So for those of you following this never-ending project, here's some advice: Should you ever decide to customize a real car, start with something simple. Perhaps Herbie, The Love Bug or maybe even the General Lee. Do NOT, I repeat DO NOT, jump into something as complex as a friggin DeLorean. This sucker is now 3 months into overtime. The completion date was 10/2007. The good news is that I now have 90% of BTTF props in hand, ready to be installed on the car. The bad news is the car STILL isn't fully restored. The engine is just about done. Everytime we fix something, 3 other problems are noted. Here are some pics I took this morning: My babys second home, the garage: http://bentzphotography.com/ducks12.jpg Replacing the window motor, adjusting the door handle and aligning the door to shut properly. http://bentzphotography.com/ducks13.jpg On a good note, the new headliners look great! The old ones were filthy and sagging. http://bentzphotography.com/ducks14.jpg |

I'd heard Deloreans were maintenance heavy when they were brand new. I can just imagine trying to restore one 20 years later AND modifying it into the Time Machine. And I've changed headliners before. When they rot out they are a mess so I can appreciate a good headliner. Might not seem important but trust me, its a worthwhile investment just for comfort alone. Glad to see this is progressing and can't wait to see it finished. Then maybe you can go back in time and warn yourself about all the problems you've had |

Yeah, its not so much the maintenance, as the troubleshooting. Thankfully I have the spec manuals, a good mechanic and a source for parts that are easily overnighted when needed. Maintenance isn't much of an issue as I don't really leave my town with the car, besides to visit my mom which is about 30 minutes away. Oh well, it'll be awesome when it's done! |

I'm only 60 miles away, yet you never come to visit. but you can only visit in the delorean When its all done up like BTTF we should drive it through LSU's campus and park it in front of the clock tower. Insert the tail hook and ask people to carry a cable up to the clock. PLEASE!? Hehe we could make a funny kind of reinactment for YouTube. -CJack PS: See you Thursday. |

So would it be too much to ask that once it's done: take a pick with a swimsuit model wearing a white labcoat next to the time machine? |
