Post subject:  Feedback on a symbol for my WW2 Ghostbusters?

It's Halloween and I'm working on some stuff to expand my GeisterJager universe (WW2 Nazi Ghostbusters). Working on Der EctoWagen and I'm trying to come up with a symbol for the group. I'm having a hard time finding a balance between fun alt history and incorporating actual hate iconography. Wanted to get some second opinions on this:

I THINK it feels right... but I'm wanting to make sure I don't shoot past my goal and make it TOO Nazi-esque.

Here's a group shot of the team. (Winston is a British soldier begrudgingly helping the team stop the apocalypse.)

This symbol says Ghost, It also says Nazi. But it doesn't say Busters/Busting/Busted

oooh panzer geist :) i know you are busting ghosts not faking tanks, but i like this symbol. i think the germans were or would of been trying to harness the power of the ghosts not just busting like the 80's movie. so tn that spirit the lightning represents power harnessed from a cartoon ghost.

i like your symbol, but ii'm not sure that would even be ghost like for back then. if you love it it works to get your point across. have you swapped the colors around? white ghost on black circle or even red ghost on black circle? maybe take the top peek off for a ghost wearing sheet profile.

My thought, too. Ghost but no busting

Great feedback, thanks guys. Here's a version with a lightning slash to bring it a little closer to the "busting" symbol.

The idea is that these are the guys who have to clean up AFTER those attempts to harness supernatural energy go wrong. I do like that patch though, I'll have to keep it in mind if I feel like I need to tone down the Nazi-ness.

That slash makes it just right.

What about 2 red lightning bolts Like an SS Symbol over top the ghost?

Yes!!!

Two parallel bolts, that would really convey the busting part and be stylized enough to fit your in design without going too far.

I used the lightning slash to suggest the SS symbol, or rather the rune it was based on but I'm not comfortable using the double. The black sun symbol uses a similar repeated shape.

The double s would push it too far for me to view it as "dark but playful alt history". I'm comfortable using the colors and shapes to SUGGEST Nazi iconography, but I don't want incorporate any actual hate symbols into it.

Personal preference, it's a weird time to be playing with fascist symbols to begin with... I'm trying to figure out how to thread that needle.

I appreciate the input from everyone.

I say all that but I can see it with the double s lightning in my head and it looks great. I'm just not comfortable with it.

Tried with one of the lightning s bars behind the ghost so the SS wasn't actually visible.
It's a possibility, I'll have to sit with it and see how I feel about it.

I like the single for all the reasons you stated originally.

I appreciate it, the fact that it's so hard to figure out how far I can take it makes me wonder if it's just a bad idea from the start.
