Hi guys,

Just wanted to post something I have been working on and see if there is any interest. Main reason though is I have to find a way to fund my hobby as of lately. Anyway, there will be more to come as this is just the start.

Anyway, this is just a ammo crate modeled after the Mortar Defense Unit crate with a removable/workable 2-piece lid. Sorry for the mix of colors, as I ran out of the color I started with. I was surprised by the effects though and have some ideas for this in the future. This is the first print, as I need to rework the orientation of the crate itself, as one of the bottom edges is less than straight. Though the lid printed perfectly and works great.

i think that's a good start. 3d printing seems to be where the hobby is going. there are a few things i'd like to get printed, but price would be a big factor. i see printed items on ebay for $10-15 and that is more than i'd pay for a single head or weapon. the guy on etsy i bought printed face huggers and bursters from was a really good price point 8 pieces for $12.50 shipped.

Looks great. Like 2D said, price vs cost/time would be the biggest factor for me.

I would think cost would be perspective of what would be involved on my end. I think I can keep the cost to down, if it only involves printing, cleaning,& curing. I didn't do any sanding to the one pictured, as it could use a quick pass or two in order to smooth out some of the spots where supports were. Though it doesn't hinder the movement of the lid at all.

pluv, are you asking for mortar rounds or other ammunition? I could model up something, as that shouldn't be too big of a job. Just to give you a idea of size within, it doesn't fit a Missile Defense Unit missile, unless you turn is slightly. Though I could resize the whole thing to fit something within my printer limits. They are 128 x 118 x 66 mm. Though the size can be worked around, as I printed a drop tank modeled after the Skystriker one to be mounted on the missile pylons. Can get a picture of that, if anyone is interested.

Up next is a Cobra relay/radio unit with foldable antenna and handset I did up. I based this one on the Joe cereal box cut-out. Though the antenna is based on nothing real, I tried to go for a cellular type look just on a smaller scale. I do have some cable attachment points on the antenna array and unit, though I haven't figured out the best way to add the cable to my liking yet. The handset will get a pigtail cable also once I figure it all out. The relay/radio will need to be sanded and possible seam fill, but I'm working to minimize all that.

I saw some 12 inch scale recycling bins at Dollar Tree earlier. Maybe someone could whip up a 1/28th version in the correct blue?

Are you talking about these? https://www.dollartree.com/wheelie-bin- ... ers/186933

I don't think a trash/recycle containers/dumpsters would be too hard to model up.

New update as this one is based on another Joe cereal box cut out. The Molecular Transformer. I modeled this one with lighting in mind with the smaller parts being clear. Not sure if there is room for a button cell within the unit, so designed a channel to route wires out the back to be connected to a power source. Might also model up a generator unit to house the battery, as in my original plans for it. The selection arrow turns and front door opens. Had some trouble with the resin I have in the printing, as it isn't really suited for mini models. The dome of the first print was super thin and turned into wet tissue paper during cleaning. Wound up needing to redesign the dome, as I over looked function in my model. I added the wire to the failed print though, to showcase that feature. Will update this one once I can get some better resin and if that doesn't work, might need to scale it up some. If anything, need some transparent resin to add in electronics.

Also did up some extras to make it more fun and that turned out really awesome. The gold bar looks great and also did some ones with Cobra logos. The stack of bars are all individual bars arranged. I think the star of this one is the pallet, as I was totally shocked by the detail that was able to translate into the resin. Might try making a few more different sized pallets now.

This update is for micro vehicles. They are about the scale of a Joe toy in Joe scale. I did up a VAMP and HISS. The VAMP roll bar is super fragile, as if anyone knows of something to spray on resin to add durability, I'm all ears. Out of the eight I did of the VAMPs, only 7 printed without flaws and another two didn't make it upon removable of supports. I was planning to have the gas cans removeable, lol. Side note: great idea to use the flawed VAMPs though for a custom of someone customizing. All six HISS tanks printed just fine, though I think they are just a little bigger than should be IMO. Maybe I need to scale up the VAMP to it for added strength. I could print some in Classified scale also.

that's impressive! so tiny!!

i think you could make the vamp "cab" solid with just the rollbars being a raised detail to make it strong and still look good. it's not like a figure could go in it :) well i guess it could.

These would be awesome for GIJOE Monopoly and for the dio sand tables and mission boards!

Thanks, and I was thinking the same, or something like that. Then again I didn't want to lose detail that I put into the interior. Please don't tempt me on the figure(s), as I thought about figures when I did the HISS for the turret.

Monopoly Joe edition would be a very cool idea. Might have to try my hand at it. I did these up in hopes of doing a battlefield planning table/holo table, though the green resin I had wasn't as translucent enough.

Yes, the battlefield planning table/holo table idea. That's what I meant.
