Predator figure I showed the WIP for a few weeks ago. Those yellow patches are part of his skin color and NOT blood.

Had some random MTF parts sitting around and made this guy, head is from a GI Joe Retaliation? Cobra Commander.
Image

I had seen someone post a figure that looked like this, I don't know if it's an original creation or part of a video game...I liked what I saw and made my own version.
Image

This is the Heavy Water kickstarter "kit" I purchased and paid through the nose for. I had to make sleeves to go on the arms to cover up the hideous elbow joints I had to create because the jackass that made the kit failed to send the files for those parts. :verymad:

Robot dog/drone/companion made from various McFarlane robot parts.

Possible Predator vehicle, but could be used for any figure. I know it's hard to see due to the paint-job, but it is dry brushed with highlights to bring the color out AND it was photographed using a flash. Base vehicle was one of those StarWars Solo speeder bikes with lots of pieces from some McFarlane robot figures. The skulls on the back are old Predator Gashapon capsule toys. The white striped are supposed to look rough, like they were painted by hand to reflect a tribal angle to it.

What are your thoughts on the Heavy Water figures overall?

I have never had so much hassle with getting a KS digital reward as I did with those files. And I didn't even intend to print them.

Great designs, but 3D printing a figure in resin is a "LASER BLAST" idea. WAAAAAAAY to brittle. The more I worked on it the more it kept breaking. I have it at a useable point now but I'll always be worried one wrong move and it will break somewhere again. Also, I think he has some great designs, but this science officer isn't one of them, kind of bland, but no one held a gun to my head to purchase it.

So did you participate in the KS for this as well? I have to say that initially it wasn't bas except the wait....which kept getting drawn out with no word from the guy who started it. However, I recently found out my kit was missing all the accessories files, so I contacted him to try and get those. So I emailed him an waited, and waited. He had trouble finding the files, and then he was going "out of the U.S." for a short trip, this was right near the end of June. SO I waited and waited then emailed him again and he was like "I'm still looking", and I waited and waited some more then emailed him again and he replied "which files were you looking for?" WTF? Is he gaslighting me??? I've emailed him a few more times (always being polite!) since then and I get no answer....so I'm guessing I'm just screwed.

Yeah I backed he KS. I think at that time I was seriously thinking about getting a 3d printer....and then when files were going out I had decided to wait, but had a friend who could have printed stuff for me. I had to email him multiple times and he would say he sent them....but would never say what the file name was or from what account he sent them... and just getting random files emailed to me was setting off gmail "this email might not be safe" alarms. IT was a mess, but in theory I have all the files if I wanted to print them someday.

Yeah, there was no way I was going to have the files and NOT have something to show for it, but even IF the process of getting the files had gone smoothly, it's just way to expensive to have anything 3D printed in resin. I had one guy quote me $90! The second guy quoted me $50, but after all the extra work I had to go through, it ended up costing about the same as the original quote. Like I said, 3D printing an action figure...especially in resin, is just NOT a good idea. I wish I could have purchased more of his designs, but not if they were all going to be a giant hassle like this one.
