Every Joe #219: Roadblock (Retaliation continuity)

As I make my way through the list of every Joe character, I find the movies basically a no-go zone. The characters, for the most part, are so mismatched with any previous versions of the same characters that they don't even feel the same.

There are some characters that are so far off the mark that they read as different characters to me. Roadblock is one of them. ARAH/Marvel/Sunbow takes on Roadblock were slightly different from each other, but they all felt like the same Roadblock- imposing but mellow, devoted and culinarily artistic.

Retaliation's Roadblock, as played by The Rock, just comes off as... The Rock. Super intense, with a dusting of slightly more intense. This isn't to say that The Rock's Roadblock isn't an okay character in its own right.

Rather than just ignore this version of Roadblock, it felt so removed from previous versions that it deserved its own Every Joe entry. Yes, this is a flawed logic, and I can't defend it. But here we are.

It's categorized as a 2012 entry because some of the toys were released before 2013, when the movie was released. It was held back for release to be converted to the then-trendy 3D, if I remember correctly.

The rock should be honored. It looks just like him. Awesome.

Thanks!

It's a passable likeness, I do believe!
