There they are! These are beautiful: the paint jobs are really clean and smooth (especially on Rand and M'Ress; not sure how you got those to come out so well), and the color schemes you chose would fit in perfectly with the production figures. That movie M'Ress is fantastic. And Uhura is absolutely perfect. I would have been so excited to see these as a kid.
Also, did you use a McCoy for the Sulu head? I did the same thing for a custom set I've been working on, and it worked better than I expected it to.
Thanks!
I was tempted to paint the customs to match their movie uniforms, but opted to go with the (better for toys?) colors that Mego went with on its figures. That always the customs to display better with the Mego figures. If I were doing it over, I would have gone movie-accurate, and repainted Decker and the rest to match the film.
To get the smooth paint, it took layers and layers of thin watery paint. Probably 6 or 7 coats on the yellows. Then a good few layers of clear coat on top of it.
Yes, McCoy for Sulu and Kirk for Chekov. Aside from the sculpted hair, adding the eyebrow-adjacent mole on Sulu helped, and giving Chekov oversized eyes with bushy eyebrows helped.
All of the female heads were Ilias, with sculpted hair. It's a nice starting point because it's already bald.
