Hi to all the community. I just wanted to get some feedback on my ORIGINAL custom I did at age 9/10. It is as it was back then. Nothing changed.
I'm debating, should I leave it be as a historical example of what I did back then,
should I document it extensively with pictures and do a light restoration
or
should I do a current update, smoothening out the hand painted paint job by airbrushing it and adding a bit more of detail plus adding a troop compartment in the bed with new body decals?
I do have to add STEEL BRIGADE decals anyway..
HERES MY POST AS A BIT OG H8STORY.
1980's NEW BRIGHT "KING KRUNCH" MONSTER TRUCK, FERRARI TESTAROSSA V-12, ORIGINAL 1983 G.I.JOE A.P.C. DECAL SET (spare) and various other bits.
This is one of my first, and original JOE CUSTOMS I built at about 9 years old (circa 1984 later adapted to STEEL BRIGADE CERTIFICATION STANDARDS).
I named it "WAR WAGON" and sometimes "WAR THUG" (TM(r)(c) THE BEAST INC.- It's MINE! ALL MINE MUU~HAHAHAHA!)
...aauhmmm, ya..apologies..lol my inner child likes to come out and play
It is COMPLETELY!! UNCHANGED!! SINCE I built it in the mid 80's.
It has a completely HAND PAINTED OLIVE DRAB PAINT JOB done by 9 year old me..And a spare 1983 A.P.C. DECAL set. I cut the roof off and added engines and seat belts etc. I was inspired by the FULL SIZE CHEVY BLAZER/GMC JIMMY and DODGE RAM CHARGER/POWER WAGON "OPEN COCKPIT" designs of the 1970's, combined with the early famous MONSTER TRUCKS of the 80's..like my favourites GRAVE DIGGER and U.S.A. 1 (just to name a few).
Over all considering I built it when I was only 9 years old, I think it holds up very, very well.
I am, considering a restoration with a fresh airbrushed paint job, new repro decals and rear cargo area modifications to enclose troop seating, armorment, and weaponry. I don't know whether I should leave it as is, as a HISTORICAL JOE CUSTOM, make minor and tasteful updates, or clean it up and update it through my childlike adult eyes and concepts to bring it to the next level.
CHEERS AND YO JOE!
