Obscure characters are a fascination of mine, always were, but the older I get the more appreciative of the B, C, and D-listers on both side of the conflict I am. Lucky for me, GIJoe as a mythos is loaded with an almost endless supply of underused, usually forgotten, or (and?) ‘barely-a-character-if not-for the trademark’ characters.

Hollow Point is all of them having the stigma of his only figure release being part of a ridiculous failed offshoot of the Joe toy-line. And a blonde beard. All of it amounted to lack of identity for the character, but as always, I can look past it and find a unique Joe.

I liked the “origin” in his filecard, though maybe it was due to the shades of similarity to a character Michael Crichton penned for my favorite book in the world: In his civilian life he was like Robert Muldoon, wildlife guru turned park warden. That kicks ass! His military life has brought him to rank of staff sergeant in the US Marine Corps and his firearms affinity got him a job as a Range NCOIC. Look at the Joe toy line as a whole, they have a lot of guys who shoot well and teach others to shoot but nobody before SSgt Max Corey specialized in it. It’s that kind of diversity I love to see in the Joe roster.

This is one seriously good looking figure, JD. This is right up there as one of my favorites. The head has a great feeling of realism to it.
(On a side note I thought you were showing a Harry Potter custom 8-O ).

he has a simple military look to him that is nice, nothing to flashy or classy which is how I see hollow point, that is a really great head and the paint on the camo is really good, nothing to say to improve on this one,
Tim

Thanks for the feedback, y'all, it's much appreciated. Glad to see you dig the figure, big thanks on the praise for my dios here (the window set up is one of my best scenes yet IMO).

And totally forget to put the recipe up:
head - 25A Flint
body - Beachhead
arms - ditto
hands - Obi-Wan (Jabiim)
legs - Snake Eyes
vest - Rebel Trooper
holster - Biggs Darklighter
pouches - BBI

NFC,

Having seen a few of your 'preview' shots, I was like WOW! But seeing the rest, its like....WOOOOOOOW!! Great job on him.

The only thing, if that shot in the snow is adult, then some cherry coolaid powder would look 'sick' under the fallend Cobra troops.

I don't know this character but he looks pretty good.

But that Night Vulture steals the show!! You have posted him before, right? He looks much much better now, when used in a dio. Awesome!

That is one sweet custom. It looks like a real person shrunken down.

8-O glad I changed the name of thread so it reflected being a Joe figure, it would appear to have gotten it noticed.

seriously, guys, thanks for the kind words here. I figured it was about time Hollow Point got a 2nd look by people, this will hopefully get him that chance, maybe it'll get ya to look past the crappy Built To Rule version at least.

DB, it's awesome my retroactive post of the recipe helped this too, this custom was fun to put together. It proved some the 25A heads can be pretty versatile methinks.

Wait'll ya see what's coming down the pipe next...

Very cool JD. Excellent mod on the Flint head, he's got that "They're never gonna find your body" stone-cold killer look.

Yah, I can dig this guy a lot. He needs some sort of head gear like the ball cap his BTR fig had. Beyond that, I really dig his receeding hairline look. I like having some of the old grizzled guys still in action - on both sides. Not everyone has to be a 25 year old model.

That was exactly what I liked about the figure too.

:-D

I'm never sure what little details the camera is going to pick up or what little detail is going to be lost in pictures so it's cool that the hair was that noticeable.

Character, character, character: what makes these characters into [fictional] people? Their humanity and individuality should show through in their appearance the same way real peoples' appearances do.

thanks again!
