The MOBAT was Hasbro's first attempt at a big vehicle for the ARAH line. As great as it was in 1982, its flaws were obvious as the line improved in its first few years.

The first problem and most obvious problem was that it was too small. Had Hasbro made it correctly scaled, a few more working hatches could have been added. Maybe even a break-away panel or two to show inside of the turret/hull.

With this 3D printed MOBAT, the scale is more than corrected (it's actually a bit oversized, but I'll take it). There is no "look inside" feature, I was able to add a slot for the driver in the hull, plus hatch lids for the driver and commander positions.

I can't take credit for the design itself, a friend found it and had it modified for me, then printed it out at this scale. I added lots of kibble, including the treads, and made some color choices to enhance the aesthetics and design as best I could.

Thank you.

Yes, "beast" is an apt description. Aside from my still-not-finished USS Flagg, this is the biggest custom I've made. There was more I would have liked to have down with it, but I don't have the skills.

I already told you what I thought of this, but seeing it again, all I can say is wow. It really does look great.

Thanks, that means a lot.

And thanks again for helping me navigate the 3D print landscape. Also thanks to another pal, Andrew, who did the actual printing for me, as the technology of it is beyond my grasp.

I just wish I had been able to get some more of the stuff I had envisioned, like a see-inside feature. But for my first BIG 3D printed project, I'm very happy with it. I also found that finding and adding the right pieces of kibble gave me a sense of ownership that I might otherwise not have had.

It's pretty impressive for a first big attempt. Can't wait to see what you tackle next!
