Which one is which?
I assume that fleabag is the handler?
Very nice work on the dog, interesting use of colors that make it a new and unique canine.

Here are the parts:

Fleabag (the human):

Head: ROC Storm Shadow (unmasked)
Torso/arms: 25A Dusty
Hands: ROC Accelerator Suit Duke
Legs: 25A Snake-Eyes
Body armor: Resolute Duke

Kennel Cough (the dog):

Dog: ARAH Junkyard

I'm happy with the dog, but now that it's done I wish I had thought to sculpt in a few tufts of hair around the back edges of the legs. This would have made the body slightly different from Junkyard.

Seriously, I had no idea that was Junkyard... I think your paint did a great job of making him look like a totally different dog. Great work.

I agree with Spin. You know, I don't really try to name new characters as though they are actually Joes, but I have to tell you, you may as well have just served this one up to Hasbro on a silver platter. A re-paint, a dog handler, and such a cool look and sound. Top notch all the way.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone.

As for a backstory, believe it or not, nothing comes to mind. If anyone would like to come up with one, send it my way and I'll post it with original artwork.

This figure came to life when I wondered how hard it would be to paint a dog in the same pattern that my own dog (a Blue Heeler) has. I haven't done a lot of Joes lately, mostly Red Shadows and Cobra characters, so it was time to make another good guy.

Painting the dog was definitely an "in the zone" experience. I'd painted another dog figure before (another Junkyard in brown and tan), but not using the same approach that I used here. It took 2 hours to paint the dog, but it felt like 15 minutes.

I was also happy with how well changing the skin tone and hair color of Storm Shadow disguised the source figure.

Very nice. Very clean too. The painting really gives a ton of texture to the dog. Great work.

I used to own a cattle dog, so I was going to guess Blue Heeler here. Did you give any thought to trying to re-do the ears so that they point up?

Fleabag - great use of parts. That head is perfect for this. The vest is a nice touch. Any reason for the blue gloves.

Kennel Cough - Fantastic paint job. You did a really good job of making that believable hair. My dogs both had kennel cough a couple of years a go. Very nasty stuff so the name is fitting.

Here's my stab at a bio.

Fleabag rescued the Blue Heeler puppy form the pound. He was told the pup was in pretty bad shape, fleas, under nurished, and worst case of kennel cough the vet had ever seen. Fleabag knew what it was like to have the odds stacked against him being born and raised in a Oklahoma City trailer park. He used all of his lawn mowing money to get the medicine and food for the dog. Kennel Cough became his best friend and went everywhere the boy went.

When Fleabag turned 17, he joined the army. He left the dog with his girlfriend while he went through basic training. When the bus stopped in Billoxie, his dog was right behind it. Where ever Fleabag went, his Kennel Cough was sure to follow. The two even did airborne training together. When it came time for a technical school, Fleabag was sent to Military Police training with advanced working dog handler training. Kennel Cough was officially property of the US Army.

Law - "Its hard not to think of Kennel Cough as another soldier. Fleabag talks to KC like a person and KC acts like he's one of the guys. I'm positive that they'd both risk their lives for each other and any one else on the team."
