Operation: Mindcrime With the defeat of the Serpentor Experiment, Doctor Mindbender became obsessed with the cloning technology and splicing of genetic materials that had been developed, and he set out to try and do it again, this time in secret. He found the project to be extremely to difficult on his own, especially with his intentions of keeping the project a secret, so he took the obvious path: Cloning himself. More hands to do more work, and lab assistants he knew he could trust, as well as a formidable collective of mind power to research and troubleshoot. As soon as he had enough clones of himself he went about building a secret lab where he could work without interference. His vanity soon got the better of him though, as he became obsessed with making more clones of himself, and he eventually abandoned his plans of a new Serpentor. He began splicing his own genetic material with that of others. Sometimes his results were less than desirable. Any time there was a conflict between Cobra and GI Joe, Dr Mindbender would be sure to get as much samples of genetic material as he could, after all - the Joes are The Best that America has to offer. He also put into motion a plan to covertly acquire samples of the DNA of certain high ranking Cobra personell. What will the end result of this operation be? How long can he keep it a secret? ***************************************************************************************** Mini Mindbender Another genetic manipulation of his own pure DNA, Dr Mindbender created Mini Mindbender to assist with wiring machinery in hard to reach areas, though he has also proven useful in surveillance and espionage, as he can easily navigate most airducts in Cobra HQ. He is energetic and eager to assist the collective in any way that he can. He is sometimes discouraged by his inability to perform some functions due to his height, and is often the target of Mindwrecker's taunting. Results: Success ***************************************************************************************** Captain Mindwrecker Another splicing with the GI Joe genetic material, this sample appears to have come from Shipwreck, the Joe sailor. He maintains his naval knowledge and skill, but also his crass sense of humor and lazy streak. Combined with his already egotistical nature, he does not respond well to authority figures and is not much help around the lab. He often feigns ignorance rather than pitching in when there is a problem that needs solved, and enjoys mocking the others any chance he gets. Results: Disappointing ***************************************************************************************** DR-MDBR With his experience from the BAT project, Dr Mindbender created for himself a droid to assist with menial electric tasks, and to store data in a portable, secure source. In the course of his experimenets, he found a way to merge his consciousness with the droid's ROM processors, and cybernetically attatched the cerebellum of one of his incomplete clones the the droid's superstructure, making it the first truly cybernetic clone of a human. Results: Success ***************************************************************************************** Surgical Strike Mindbender This was actually one of the first customs I ever set out to do... A hard lesson learned by baking Sculpy and another hard lesson learned by the corrosive properties of acetone later... (and about 6 years)... He is remade. Notice his shirt tucked into his underwear. ***************************************************************************************** I've also taken to making my own custom capes: And the special project members get unique capes: This is a zany project to be sure, but it's been good for me. I've found the motivation to do things I had always put off really trying, like practicing the lower arm swap, really sculpting significant details, cutting stencils, sanding, paint mixing (as you can see, I still have not perfected the perfect purple), not to mention my first forray into astromech modification (pay special attention to detail on that droid and tell me if you can see the detail that took me like 3 days of work to perfect...). Also , note that the droid and MiniM both feature a replica of the actual MB belt buckle I made a push mold in some Sculpy with. Not sure if you can really tell from the pictures. Anyway... This is what I've been working on. There are still 2 more in the wings, waiting on various... things. So what do you think? Also, a big shout out to THE Mike and Viper for both really coming through for me on the 2 different R2D2's that I victimized. It was not in vain. |

Dude, I love the ambitousness of this project. You're really making it your own. Surgical Strike Mindbender could easily be Ninja Force Mindbender and that makes him cool. Mindwrecker is also ridiculously awesome. I'm not too keen on the DR MDBR but thats because I cant find the hidden detail Oh, and any time I see a midget custom you automaticaly get a thumbs up from me. I love seeing customs of anything in non standard body types. If you took an E. Honda and made a Sumobender I would <3 you 4-evah. |

Lance, I love where you are going with this. First, the bio/back story is extremely creative. It really sounds like it could be developed into a comic. Secondly, the customs are FUN! Creativity, a love for Bendy, and a splash of purple paint = GENIUS. A terrific job all the way around and cannot wait to see more! |

PURPLEST CUSTOMS EVAR!!!1! These are all awesome - but for some reason (maybe because it's the least gay), DR-MDBR is my favorite. Very cool. Freak. |

Here's a hint: Chief wrote: These are all awesome - but for some reason (maybe because it's the least gay), DR-MDBR is my favorite. Really? That's ironic, seeing as how that one is the only one that actually has a little bit of Mindbender INSIDE of it... Thanks for the comments everyone! |

OK seriously THIS IS AWESOME! Sure they're "funny" customs, but there's a lot of skill and creativity here, and more than a little heart. Minibender is great. I wish he had more articulation, but it's hard to fault you for that. He really does look like a midget clone of Mindbender. Mindwrecker made me shoot Dr. Pepper through my nose. Mostly because of the purple parrot. I love the name too, it's semi-serious and really fits but is great with this non-sequitor custom. DR-MBR didn't interest me. . . until I saw the head in there. WOW! That is awesome! That tiny detail took this from uninteresting purple astromech to my favorite of the bunch! Surgical Strike Mindbender is genius. That torso really looks like scrubs! If Master Collector ever decides to do a Dr. Mindbender THAT is a great idea. Minus the sneakers of course The capes need a little fray check on the edges, but otherwise are dead ringers for Mindy's. Did you freehand the silver? If so that's impressive. I LOVE this project Lance, mostly because I can tell YOU love this project. Can't wait to see what's next. |

Glad to help out. Surgical Strike Mindbender is pure brilliance, I'm surprised no one's done him in medical scrubs before. |

I am blown away by how cool all of these are bro! But I'm even more blown away that there are no referances to me and mini bender BUT HEAR ME NOW, THE FIRST ONE TO MAKE A TC USING THAT FIGURE GETS A FROM ME AT THE CON! ahem... I love all of them Lance, great job! |

Awesomely hilarious work yo! I'm kind of leaning towards MindWrecker being my fave out of this bunch. between the purple bellbottoms and the purple parrot, that's money there. We'd have to shave TC's head to make him MiniBender.. DR-MDR was ehh for me until the shot of the head looking thru the "monacle"... that's great. Hardball torso makes a great scrubs look.. sweet. |

MiniBender - Almost Perfect. Great mods ot the head and the wrest of the body. The only thing I would do is make the suspenders come all the way down to his pants. Great custom. I knew the buckle wasn't sculpted but I thought you cut it from a Mindbender figure. Tons of work here and it shows. Capt. Mindwrecker - Brilliant. Good mods. I really like pruple Pauly and the brain probe on a rope. The goatee needs a little starightening out. This tip might help you with your DR-MDBR too. Using an xacto, pick, or small file you can scrape the edges of your paint if the surface underneath is the original plastic. So things like the beard and those pain in the ass dome details can be shaped after painting rather than trying to paint it with a super fine point. DR-MDBR - You knew I was going to love this one. Astromech are not fun to paint but once they are done they look cool. This one with the Mindbender head inside the clear dome is freaking fantastic. I also like that you used the flesh color on the dome to represent the baldness. I think it make it look even more phallic. Surgical Strike Mindbender - I like this one quite a bit. The mask looks good. This looks like the kind of outfit he would wear for a day of cutting open dolphins and little kittens. Capes - I like the idea with the character specific capes. Like viperlord said you need to work on the fraying. Here's what I do that might help you. Before cutting the fabric I draw my outline with glue, regular white glue if I have the time to let it dry, superglue if I'm in a hurry. When it dries, I have an outline to follow, a stable surface for the scissors to cut through, and the glued edges give minimal frays. All in all, this is a great batch of customs from you. |

Chief wrote: ...but for some reason (maybe because it's the least gay), DR-MDBR is my favorite......Freak. LOL...I don't think Chief's all that observant. or I'm just totaly wrong...but it looks like DR-MDBR has connection points for a "Mind Probe" both an output in the front, and an input in the rear!! I love the fact that you added the Cod Peice to the bottom of the DR unit. The head looking out the eye hole is pretty cool...I didn't notice it at first but I like it. I think if I'd have done it, I'd have used a Bo'Marr monk figure and taken the brain from it's brain bowl...added a monocle and put that inside the clear R2 unit's dome. Mini Mindbender is great...I've had one of those midgets sitting on top of my moniter waiting to become Mini Crystal Ball mk2. He's just such a better figure than crappy Mask base I first used...but it's just a ton of carving work to get down to a useable base on the arms and legs. Admiral Mindwrecker...great looking figure...I LOVE the purple parrot...an excellent looking bird...you really need to work on Dr. Mindspirit...just so you can litteraly make a Bald Eagle. Surgical Strike Mindbender looks good...don't knock the scrubs tucked into the underware...it's not hard to do in those things. I'm not wild about the mask...usualy those things come up over at least the nose...I'd love to see you try and make one of the ones that's got the little plastic screen that covers the eyes and eyebrows. Capes are a great idea...I love the effort you're making to make them custom...like everybody else has said...get some fraycheck....I think Killiuminati's got some stuff thats like a ribbon you iron on and then cut out your pattern and it makes a great looking seam. I don't think you're too off on your Purple paint...It prolly wouldn't work just trying to LBC with regular Mindbender parts...but for wholey new figures it works quite well. |
