Hello everyone,

Here's one of my latest creations: Hawk, in arctic gear. I took inspiration from the Marvel Comics series, issue #11 (see caption below - all rights reserved to Marvel!).



So here's what I came up with.





The parts I used were:

Head: '83 Hawk
Torso: '83 Snow Job
Arms: '83 Snow Job (modded)
Waist: '83 Snow Job
Legs: '83 Steeler

Nice work. It's rare to see the original legs get any use in customs these days, so that's an extra bonus.

You had me at 'ARAH'...

The only thing I might do is dull the collar down a little to give it a more 'dirty in the field for a couple of days' look.

Right now it looks like he just put the jacket on fresh from the laundry.

Otherwise it's a solid effort (and it's ARAH so you get an extra point for that).

DJ I agree an off-white would have looked a little better here, but I don't have any and didn't bother to make it myself I'll see if maybe adding a brownish/yellow wash would do the trick!

And if you ask me, ARAH is the only way to go

you know, this is simple but works very well. Very nice/clean work as well.

Thanks Matthew, I'm glad you approve of it. I've been making strong efforts and painted much thinner layers on this one than on my previous figures, and I'm really glad of how the original details came out.

It seems the more progress I make in this hobby, the longer I figure it takes to complete a custom. It's like a reverse learning curve, at least for me

How much will it take for me to send you this little guy and have you apply your miraculous method and make it chip-proof? Do you like French wine?

well, its too late now. my process starts before you paint it and continues thru out the painting process.

ive got a couple of projects to finish up for patrick riley and mutt for the moment, but once im done with those (sometime this month), ill see if i can make one of these for ya.

A very nice...very clean custom. I like that you used the comic as an inspiration...but whis you'd have broken away from it and made an intermediary Hawk.

As far as making the figure playable...I'd have started with V1 hawk legs...No paint needed unless there's touch ups on the details...only a tad bit of paint matching to be done on the waist.
I really like the color of the V1 hawk.

SnowJob's parts would take dye extremely well...I'm sure there's brownish rit dye that'd work well...sand the joints a bit, and then top off with an even coat of a nice tamyia brown...you shouldn't have any worries about paint chipping.

I agree and actually already rit dyed the torso and arms brown. The only dye I had (we don't have rit dye here so I used what I had from a batch I had someone send me overseas) was dark brown, which is different from the reddish brown I painted on top of it, but at least it is still the same type of color so it won't show as much when the paint chips.

There is probably another dye color that would have worked better though!

I like it. As others have said simple and clean. When the comic packs were announced this is more like what I was hoping for. A mixture of comic specific appearances along with comic specific characters.

About the only thing I'd rather see on that is the comic 3 pack Hawk head.

I just not really a fan of the original heads compared to the comic 3 pack heads though.
