What about putting the front wheels under the pods, and putting a pop up ball joint under the pods so that when it gets into position the pods can be like gunner stations, and tilt, angle, and swivel. Parked with it's pods popped out to the sides it'd look like a 2 headed snake with the heads reared up, and ready to strike.
If my scanner was working properly right now I'd sketch it up for you. I even have an idea in mind for how the pods would pop out to the sides
