One of my favorite Oktober Guard characters I have created, I had his bio completed for several years now. He is my homage to Red Grant of 'From Russia, With Love', Krazy Ivan (old school video game), the movie'Red Heat', along with a dash of a few other things. I read an article about the combat spade and checked out YouTube for videos of it being used in action. Russian/Soviet soldiers performed tumbling and other gymnastic acts while using the spade as an offensive weapon, including throwing the spade at targets. I thought a character that used such a tool as a weapon might be kinda cool.
He is one of the deadliest members of the team, but mostly he spends his time in solitary confinement wood carving and working on other projects. I want people to feel uneasy around him and distrustful, but in reality he feels tremendously contrite for what he did and wouldn't ever just kill someone without cause. In combat situations he would act appropriately, but if he isn't on a mission he wouldn't harm a fly. He lives with the guilt of what he did and deeply regrets his actions.
He is a big, powerful guy. The KGB believes him to be a valuable asset.
OKTOBER GUARD SPECIAL OPERATIONS
Codename: Krazy Ivan
Filename: Classified (Prisoner #A853021)
PMS: Special Operations Trooper
SMS: Ex-Russian Naval Infantry (Riverine Ops)
POB: Classified
Grade: None (Military Prisoner assigned to Penal Battalion)
Krazy Ivan was once a highly trained member of the 336th Guards Naval Infantry Regiment stationed at Baltysk, and his unit deployed to Afghanistan during the last years of the conflict. While in country as a Scout Diver, he became part of a riverine force, conducting vital missions behind enemy lines alongside other Russian Naval Spetsnaz. He soon developed exceptional hand-to-hand combat skills, specializing in wetwork and advanced recon. The fighting was intense and many of his fellow soldiers lost their lives to the Mujahadeen fighters. Krazy Ivan was determined to return home safely to his young wife, so he practiced daily, throwing his combat spade at targets repeatedly. During off duty hours his superiors would find him with a wetstone, honing the edge to razor-sharpness.
The day his unit returned home he discovered his wife and her lover in bed together. The thrice decorated war veteran snapped, grabbing the closest weapon he could lay his hands on, his spade, and attacked the couple. After his neighbors alerted officials, they discovered Krazy Ivan sitting on the front step of his apartment, calmly sharpening his digging tool. The officers entered the residence and discovered the mutilated remains of his wife and the unit’s political officer in the bedroom. Krazy Ivan was taken into custody. He would have been shot immediately if not for the intervention of a KGB Colonel. The Colonel met with him in his prison cell and gave him a choice. A conviction would result in his immediate death by firing squad or he could work special ops for the KGB. Krazy Ivan accepted the offer and was tried under Article 58 of the Soviet Criminal Code-sentenced to a penal battalion for twenty years of hard labor at a remote gulag as cover.
The KGB knew of Krazy Ivan’s abilities and skills in combat for some time and they realized executing him would be a waste of a valuable State asset. They arranged for him to receive special training in certain more advanced skills and told him he would be executed should he fail any future assignments. When Krazy Ivan is not involved with any Oktober Guard missions he remains behind the walls of a KGB run installation, but when his exceptional skills are needed he is released with the condition he return to his handlers after the mission is over.
From Hardline:
“As the senior field officer of the Oktober Guard, I alone am aware of the circumstances that brought Krazy Ivan to our unit. I do not believe any of the soldiers in my command know that he is a convicted murderer-as far as they know he is simply a former soldier trying to earn his freedom from a penal battalion. I am not comfortable sharing the field of battle with such a highly trained professional killing machine, regardless of his mental state and my own opinions towards Political Officers in general. His handlers believe him to be incapable of resistance. However, once in the field all soldiers resist to their own degree once they are out of sight of watchful eyes. Knowing he has a death sentence hanging over him, it seems to make him fight harder, but if he attempts to escape or betray us, I will do my duty by following orders to shoot to kill.”Attachment:

And this one is my homage to the Gurlukovich Soldiers from the Metal Gear Solid games. I liked the design, and have been trying to come up with a decent recipe. Plan to come up with a bio for him.
