Life for any Caribbean surfer is paradise. Crystal blue waters and fish as far as the eye can see. Jose could very well have lived that life, being a tourist boat Capt. In his home town. But the dreams of an anxious youth lead him astray. At the age of ten Jose was adopted by the church which saw a chance to tame a troubled youth. Harpoon got his nickname from his ability to reel anyone in with a good story and his keen ability with a pole arm. At 18 his adopted guardian Father Antonio Solana recommended that the boy put his god giver talents to use. He pulled some strings and got him into the Naval Academy. He came close to failing out before try outs for the sailing team came up. Proving his expert seamanship he stayed on graduating second to last in his academy class. Yet while all of his classmates were going on to command their respective vessels Harpoon began his Official Naval career inside the brig. The weekend before graduation he was reprimanded for leaving base without a pass. No sensor caught him, no guard laid eyes but some SE.A.L.’s who were out drinking caught him cavorting in the background with their digital camera. Much to Harpoon’s chagrin the SEAL officer was the brother of naval academy commandant, with whom he already had a rocky relationship. He was given two choices, no graduating or reprimand for three months and withholding of pay and privilege until that time. The commandant’s brother was impressed with his stunt that they remitted two months of the sentence so he could make it into the next SEAL class. A friend of the Commandant’s brother a LT. Stone form the British SAS was equally impressed and asked for a transfer.

Not wanting to do anything but play Unreal tournament Matt Hurley completely forgot about all responsibility and respect. But he became bored with retail video games and began to design his own tougher and tougher “mods” for existing games.. He worked his way to a point where he needed materials that could only be found the mainframes of big gaming companies. Something of a savant with computers he began to figure out how to bypass security measures. He was soon charged in both the UK and the US for unlawful use of computers. Though he had all the chances in the world to take sensitive information he only took was he could find about game coding. Eventually it came to the point where Hurley became part of a group known as the Ilk. What Hurley didn’t know was that The Ilk used him as a battering ram to access these sensitive areas to copy that sensitive information. The group called him Metal because he was that thick in the head. It didn’t take long for the Government to track the Ilk down. Hurley was set up; it was only he and a house full of hot electronics when LT Stone and his men charged in. It was plain as day, what went on, and Metal realized he had been the tool of the Ilk. It was the defining moment of his life when he vowed that he would never again become the tool of someone else. LT Stone was more than happy to help him become that new person. He serves as EX.T.R.E.M.E.’s communications specialist and Hacker.
Mayday: (Friday in the Joe Universe)

Adams scored higher than anyone in her town on the regent exams. Just to take these exams she had to fly from Yellowknife in the NWT to Winipeg in Manitoba in a puddle jumper with bad weather. That’s the way her father raised her whether it was behind a book or the stick of an aircraft it was always 110%.The source of this success though wasn’t to prove ones aptitude it was to disprove ineptitude. Mayday always finds she is worrying about not being the best or finding someone better. However she parlayed her solid academics and uncanny piloting skills into a successful college career. There she learned about extreme sports, everything Mayday did pushed the envelope. Out of College she sought to further prove herself and enlisted in the Canadian army. She became know for her reckless abandon, something the Canadian army doesn’t see very often. After graduating airborne, special ops and flight school she was placed On a Canadian security detachment for the United Nations. They were serving undercover as security for a charity gala in Madrid when a Bath separatist group attempted to overtake the compound. In full evening wear she laid down suppressing fire with a gun she “borrowed” from a Separatist. Attending that evening in his full dress uniform was LT Stone who was so intrigued by he ability that after a little research put in for Mayday’s immediate transfer to team EX.T.R.E.M.E.

Freight was a quality middle line back for the Detroit Lions for four years before he was released from the Lions. When no other team would pick him up he joined the US Army. In the NFL he was nick named Freight-train Diesel because of his uncanny ability to barrel through offensive lines. A fiercely dedicated soldier that puts his mates before himself. So much so that he ends up blaming himself for what happens to his mates. Most would have assumed his confidence would help him overcome this martyr nature. Freight stalled after his commanding officer was killed by an IED during a peacekeeping mission in Chechnya. After it was determined that an international terrorist organization known as the Red Shadows were behind the bombings in the area, including the one that had killed his CO he wanted to do what he could to take down the whole organization. It just so happened that LT Stone was in the area investigating the shadows and saw how well Freight commanded his teammates after the death of their CO, escorting the men out of harms way and back to safety. He now serves as the muscles for EX.T.R.E.M.E.
