I want to make a 1:18 scale Rhino figure: need advice please

Got a tip to share? Have a question about the hobby? Need input on parts or weapons? Have great idea for a custom figure or vehicle? Too lazy to do it, or just want to share the idea with others? All that and more goes in here.

I am thinking about making a 1:18 scale Rhino figure from the Spiderman comics to go with my expanding Marvel customs and figures set. Been looking around and I can't seem to find a figure that is short, stocky and has enough musculature to fit in at 1:18 scale. Any advice would be welcome here. I did think about using an SHS Hulk, but he is just a little bit too big.

Thanks in advance

Personaly I'd wait and see what comes of the 4" "Furry Files" marvel figures....It's very possible that within a year they'll have a 1:18 scale Rhyno figure out.

the MLS Hulk or Juggernaught are prolly your best options for Stocky, Musculiar bodies.

I think Dark Horse made his from a MLS Thing figure. It's probably the best 1/18 Rhino I've seen.

I kind of like this one.....

The dude who made it is totally awesome! :whistling:

I'd maybe wait a few months to see if they annouce one for the Marvel Universe line this year.

But if you can't wait. MLS Hulk base is good. You just have to mod the waist and the bottom of the pants legs.

Kam - would any of the BnB WWE figs work for this? Their scale is just different enough from the Joe/MLS lines that even the bigger, "taller" figs are stocky by comparison.

Thanks for the ideas.

Might go with a MLS Thing plus a bucket of filler. I can get one quite cheap plus i want to go for the classic look. Already got an idea which head to use. Going to use a Chap Mei Pirate.

Way to small, Dennis.
I love the one Push You Down showed.
And Marcus's just kicks SO much ass it's well worth copying.

Exactly. I am going to pay tribute to it by doing a version of that custom.

I suspected as much. The muscle definition of the BnB figs is what I was thinking of I guess, more so than actual bulk. I fail.

No fail, my friend, just a reasonable suggestion. I am in fact using a BnB figure for another of Spidey's enemies.

What about Wink from the new Hellboy 3.75 line?

I haven't seen it in person, but it looks like it would work.

I used BnB figures for a couple of customs; Edge for Young Avengers Vision (25th Ann Serpentor head) and Undertaker for Radioactive Man (JvsC Zartan head).

Good muscular bodies but yeah a hair too short. (Perfect for a teenager like young Vision and Radioactive man needed some leg extensions.)

Like the other comments I found the SHS bodies to work best for any large sized hero or villan.
Not trying to show off for this thread but here are some examples of how customized larger SHS look.

Picked up a Spidey/Thing 2-pack and 2 Reed Richards/Mole Man 2packs this afternoon. Just need some body filler and I will be starting on the Rhino.

Anybody any thoughts on what Marvel charcters I could use the Mole Man figs for?

by MJTanner

Someone made Arnim Zola figure using Moleman as the base. (it was posted in the critques sections last week I think.

with my 4 or 5 extra Moleman figurs I was going to try to copy it. I'll extend the legs though.
