Another project I've been putting off for a good while has been my Cover Girl: Diesel Mechanic custom. I almost went with this for the Female Additions GP, but ended up going with the Anna Maria custom instead, and doing them both would have been to labor intensive for a GP time frame.

Now though, I have no deadline and no other big projects on tap. I am having trouble picking the head to use though...

Mara Jade, or Agen Courtney Kriger

The Mara Jade head may be a touch too big, though the ACK head has that silly blowing hair...

Any other suggestions are welcome, naturally.

I'm having the same problem with my Cover Girl custom. I just can't seem to find a good head to use that looks correct. I really don't think the Mara Jade heads reminds me of a something that would scream Cover Girl. I also agree about the billowing hair on the ACK figure. I do have head I'm working on for my Cover Girl project but I still have alot of work to do on the hair. Its one of the Elizabeth Swan heads when she was dressed as a pirate. Keep in mind I still have alot of sculpting to do on the hair, but heres a pic.

Hrm. I like both, but for different reasons. The blowing hair poses a problem for a mechanic, but perhaps you could do a hair transplant? The Mara Jade face is all wrong, IMO. That head has a girl next door, tomboyish quality to it that might be better suited if you were doing the mechanic from Firefly.

I voted for Dasaffe,
hoping that I'd be the only one to vote.

.....and then I saw the results. 8-O  :rotfl:

I'd be tempted to recommend a Bombstrike head, but past experience getting her hair off showed it to be a nightmare, and molding putty around it might not give it the look you want.

POTC Liz Swan with the braid is another good possibility, I've found that to be an amazingly versatile (and attractive) head, and easy to work with. The #9 Comic Pack Scarlett (the RAH version, with her in normal gear, not karate togs) also is good, but takes a bit of work to adapt; might not be the right size to the body.

BTW, you can pry the hair off the ACK head with some boiling, I did it a while back and then used the hair from a #9 Comic Pack Scarlett head in it's place. The result is here. If I recall right it was actually a pretty good fit, too (no putty, etc. needed).

I really never liked the look of the Mara Jade head (and the hair limits movement and makes it sit awkward), and the ACK head has good hair, but an awful face.

For my Cover Girl, I used BnB hair (but could have just as easily used ACK's hair) and a 25th Lady Jaye head. Don't count that head out...as awful as it looks unaltered, with a little bit of putty and paint, it can look entirely different

Hmm, there might be yet hope for the 25A Lady Jaye head I have then, thanks. :-)

Wow... I think we may have a winner. If not on this project, then deffinately at some point. That is outstanding, and not something that would have likely occured to me.

Thanks for all the input, there are some good ideas here!

I really like the Mara Jade head fro Cover girl.

This is the best head I've ever seen used for Cover Girl

I voted for the Mara Jade head. It's the closet resemblance to the original figure but it has a more feminine hairstyle. These other ideas are good but I'd go with the one with the least amount of work.

The problem with the MJ head (other than the HUGE size) is that the hair really gets in the way of movement, and can impede the head even fitting on some torsos (it requires a pretty long neck to sit right).

Wow, that IS very cool. Trouble is that I already have a custom character that uses that head - http://www.joecustoms.com/customs/customs_xml_single.php?t=gp&d=femaleadditions&c=panama

Yea, I've had this in my head for so long that I am not afraid to do a little extra work on this one. I've ended up taking Darko's advice with the Lady J head and some BnB hair. I built the forehead up a bit too much, but I'm liking her look so far.

Thanks for the input!
