How to make water/ liquids

Anyone know how to make realistic liquids?
I want to make a vat of toxic goo, which i wanted to be semi-transparent.
Anyone know how to make liquids besides using the E-Z water pellet stuff?

Would mixing food color with clear liquid soap work?

I guess you could use a crapload of hotglue, but really, the ez pellet stuff is the best option. It's pretty easy to work with, and if you want to color it, just add a bit of RIT dye to the mix. Or are you looking for something that won't become solid? If that's the case, just look at various hair-gels, dish soaps and such.

Elmer's white glue and a little paint makes for a cool semi transparent look similar to hot glue.

They do make a clear acrylic resin for casting. But it is on the expensive side.

Toothpaste is the best of the home products out there. It has a much lower evaporation rate than soap or mouth wash.

A cheap bottle of clear acrylic sealer (DecoArt, Delta Ceramcote) or water-based clear varnish come to mind; they can be had for under $2 for a 2 oz. bottle, just fill your vat, add colors, mix, and let dry. That's if you're going for a solid look on the cheap n' easy.

Resin, polyeurathane. Get a little can at Home Depot for $5 or so. Paint the area under it grey or black, then fill it with the resin and let it dry.

Doh! Here I suggested trying to add food color to clear soap when it already comes in other colors. Nobody saw that, right?
