Is it possible to dye resin/plastic cast?

Got a tip to share? Have a question about the hobby? Need input on parts or weapons? Have great idea for a custom figure or vehicle? Too lazy to do it, or just want to share the idea with others? All that and more goes in here.

Title says all - I am wondering whether it is possible to add dye or some kind of coloring to the resin/plastic when casting parts.

Say I want to cast some parts in black resin so I don't have to paint them black afterwards, or whatever other color.

Any input on this? What can be used?

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick answer! Will try to get these products - or equivalent - around here! :monocle:

You want to be careful when using pigments in your casting resin. If you use to much you can alter the ratio of the the chemical and thus not have an even ratio of side A and B. With most colors this not too big of a deal but with black you usually have to add a lot of the pigment to get the parts to come out black and not grey. One thing you may want to try, which I have had great success with, is to cast in white and dye the parts with the typically Rit dye method.

Yeah, I'd recommend RIT dyeing afterward. My few forays with casting using add-in pigments have been wildly unsuccessful, but alumilite resin takes RIT dye like a pro.
