Display Cases

This topic can really go here or in dios and maybe evening general, so sorry to a mod if you have to move it.


I need a little help with display ideas. I ran across a floor merchandise display on craigslist for about 200 bucks and when researching they run about 700. I won’t be buying either.

However it did get me thinking how I would love to have a floor standing case that I could display figures and scenes or whatever enclosed in glass.

Does anyone have any recommendations for cost effective display, or just general creative thinking to help me around this.

Do most of you guys build your own cases or what?

Check out any shop in your area that is going out of business (especially the bigger chains like Linens N Things). They usually sell of their store fixtures (including display cases and the like) for really reasonable prices (you can usually negotiate a bit on them, too).

i use cd cases from big lots, $40 each. you can probably have glass cut to size for around 10$ or so.

You need to look up Ikea online. They have some really cool and cheap display cases. We have one for our wedding and one filled with some sentimental items from my wife's grandmother.

agreed on all counts, I also recommend the coffee tables with the boxes built in, easy to build and somewhat cheap even to buy.

Of course, you could always convert an old glass door entertainment center.

I'm getting ready to start making my own cases, either with a lexan plastic (for UV protection) door, or without, and I may decide to make them available for sale.

Let me build the first one(s) and see what i think about them then.
