"Mithril Silver" from Games Workshop is pretty much dead on for any silver painted Joe. But I can confirm that "Shining Gold" is way off. Too much bronze in it. These are acrylic (I think...) and chip easely. Coat it with something and it will hold.
I have used copious amounts of Tamiya silver and gold, and have never had a complaint with either. They are a bit fume-tastic, though, so make sure you have ventilation.
Just as Soulgem said, MIrthril Silver is dead on. Unlike other silver paints from other brands, Citadel Mithril Silver doesn't have the glittery specks... just solid silver. I can't say the same for their golds though. I have Burnished Gold but it's too bright and it has the glittery specks.
