Disassembling the R.H.I.N.O. to paint???

Got a tip to share? Have a question about the hobby? Need input on parts or weapons? Have great idea for a custom figure or vehicle? Too lazy to do it, or just want to share the idea with others? All that and more goes in here.

I have an idea to customize one of my R.H.I.N.O.s and it will involve a major repaint. I'm asking those that have done this how easy it is to disassemble the vehicle to paint. I'd like to keep the lifting mechanism intact if at all possible.

It's been a year or more since I bashed mine; but it's all just held together with standard Phillips screws, iirc. There's a silicon goo in the tracks the lifting mechanism slides in for traction that you'll need to be aware of. It may cause some problems if you're planning to paint the interior. I took that gimmick out of mine and so cleaned it all out with regular dish soap and an old toothbrush.

Yep its fairly easy to take apart, like AV said just take all the screws out and clean up the silicone crap and your good to go. The wheels are a little tricky to get off but once you get the first one the others are easy.

Okay let me ask this. If I clean out the goo will the mechanism still work properly? And when I unscrew everything will the springs and parts of the lifting mechanism pop out and be difficult to put back together?

IIRC, once you take the shells apart, the lifting mechanism is still screwed into the bottom half. So it shouldn't 'fall apart' just because you've taken the top half off. And since the goo's there to provide traction, I'd definately think that cleaning it all out would make the lifting action no longer be slow and steady. I'd guess it'd be more 'pop and jump', and prolly make a plastic-on-plastic squeaking noise.
