Casting the pieces of a USS Flagg - has anyone ever done it?

Got a tip to share? Have a question about the hobby? Need input on parts or weapons? Have great idea for a custom figure or vehicle? Too lazy to do it, or just want to share the idea with others? All that and more goes in here.

Title says it all.

I was wondering if anyone had already tried to cast the pieces to replicate a USS Flagg, and what was the cost of it.

Seeing as I just acquired one myself, I don't think there's one part of it that couldn't be cast. However there are just so many of them, and they are so huge that they would require a ton of materials to reproduce the whole thing.

Has anyone even run down the numbers of such a thought? Given the sale value of one Flagg, how many Flaggs would one need to reproduce in order to break even?

For what I care, a good reproduction would be good enough - a little blue paint job, some decals and voilĂ ! Cobra has their own aircraft carrier ;-)

Any thoughts?

I know the closest thing to it is that guy who, if building his own Flagg wasn't enough, hand-made his own FLEET of ships. But I was wondering if anyone had actually reproduced the real thing.

Nice! Now I know where to get a few missing parts ;-)

But from what I found, Alyosha only cast small parts that are easy to lose. Did someone try to cast the whole thing, since it's quite rare to find?

Hehe, I dont think thats likely. The cost of the molds alone for something that size would run in the 1000s of dollars. Silicone ain't cheap!

Flagg Shells are anything but hard to find...they're just a pain because of shipping costs.

There'd be no profit in trying to cast any of the Super Structure or Deck Plates

Yeah, what Nova said. Flagg's are everywhere...just no one wants to pay ;)

That's not true, at least not in this part of the world. I guess Flaggs were never a sale priority for Hasbro here in Europe in the first place ;-)

The price of the set, already driven up by its rarity, combined to the shipping additionally makes it incredibly difficult to import on a regular basis...

On the other hand, I never suspected Flaggs were THAT easy to find continentally.
