Star Wars and the 'Rubber Mallet Method'

I'm just wondring if anyone has tried the wood block and rubber mallet method of disasembling the torsos on the super articulated Star Wars figures, like the Clones or VOTC Stormtroopers... Seems like the same principle should apply...

I'm sure it would for some, but the problem is that there are about five or six different Star Wars figure construction types just among the newer figures. A lot of them don't feature two-half torsos. Instead, the torsos are just one solid piece of molded plastic (...which makes getting the arms out real fun, let me tell you).

Some of the Jedi figures are like that, such as the Hett from the comic two-pack, or the toys made around the same time as Revenge of the Sith.

I've had the most success boiling & popping them, especially Hett, who came apart with no tools at all.

Reverse needle nose pliers work best for me and on several body types.
