Um...why is my RHINO full of goo?

Got a tip to share? Have a question about the hobby? Need input on parts or weapons? Have great idea for a custom figure or vehicle? Too lazy to do it, or just want to share the idea with others? All that and more goes in here.

So, I got a second Rhino today, to customize, and, upon opening it up, I discovered that it's full of his weird goo that doesn't want to seem to wash off.

Question one: Is this normal, or did the previous owner have some rather unusual hobbies?

Question two: How the hell do I clean the goo out of the Rhino?....well, that's about the oddest sentence I've ever typed.

Basically what happened is at some point it has been in a warm enough environment to cause the grease to run. The lifting mechanism inside the rhino for the helicopter platform is covered in grease to give it a smooth lifting motion. When I took mine apart to customize it I had a heck of time getting it off. I've also had one from Hasbrotoyshop that must have gotten hot causing the grease to run as well. The best thing I could do was get some warm soapy water and keep scrubbing the area until I got as most of it off as possible.

yup what carn said but might i add trying " goo gone" is works great at lifting grease as well aspainted images, like the joe tatoos on the VvV figures takes em right off with some spray, soak, and them wipe with a cloth. repeat if needed. hope this helps.

OK, beav, but if those figures I'm getting from you are in a certain condition... ;)

To paraphrase a line from a Uma Thurman movie, "You can love your JOEs, just don't LOVE your JOEs..."

When I got my RHINO and opened it up, I noticed the goo also. I showed it to my brother and theorized it might be something to do with the molding process of the plastic or even the chemical they use to keep the parts from sticking to the molds.

Just use one of the suggested goo removers and you should be fine...unless you have access to one of the CSI blacklight thingies they use for checking for stuff. :bleh:

Yeah, I finally just used an old washcloth and a crapload of goo-gone. Just some advice to anyone opening up a Rhino, since this seems to be a common thing...wear gloves. The goo is HORRIBLE to get off of your hands, and actually does start to burn a little.

Yea, I remember when they first came out a lot of people complained about this right out of the box. I got one and I just returned it to HTS for a clean one. That stuff was a MESS!

I just got a grivous starfighter and I'm having the same problem, but their really isn't anything on a grievous starfighter that needs lube. It's coming out the pop out wings.

Geez sounds like it could be a potential recall item for hasbro when you think about little kids opening it... I dare say its probably toxic if the stuff burns.

I doubt any little kids are unscrewing it and taking it completely apart. And I believe anything that goes into a kids toy is required to be non-toxic even if its something they may never touch. Doesn't mean it won't itch or burn but it won't kill ya.
