Got a tip to share? Have a question about the hobby? Need input on parts or weapons? Have great idea for a custom figure or vehicle? Too lazy to do it, or just want to share the idea with others? All that and more goes in here.

hey everyone. does anyone have any tips on how to attach shoulder pads, such as the ones used by clone troopers and republic commandos, to gi joe upper arms/shoulders? i dremeled out a pair of republic commando shoulder armor pads, but im having trouble attaching them to the gi joe arm without it limiting articulation/getting in the way, or just plain falling off. any help will be greatly appreciateed

I made a Wraith custom a few years ago. I made custom shoulder pads out of some kind of bubble packaging.

To attach the pads to the figure, I used a strip piece of flat plastic (also cut from bubble packaging) and glued it to the inside of the pads and then to the back/shoulder blade area of the back. This way, it "floated" over the upper portion of the arm without actually touching it. I minimized the appearance of the plastic strip by placing a backpack over it.

Depending on the shoulder pads, I think if they were two part, eg one pad per shoulder, you could attach them some how with a hinge, close to the neck, so when the arm is fully up right, it pushes it up at a angle.
