Need customizing ideas for an old Millenium Falcon

Got a tip to share? Have a question about the hobby? Need input on parts or weapons? Have great idea for a custom figure or vehicle? Too lazy to do it, or just want to share the idea with others? All that and more goes in here.

So, I have an old, beat-up Millenium Falcon shell that I've had forever. I don't really have any interest in customizing it into anything Star Wars based, and would like to do something Joe/Cobra with it. But I can't think of what (a straight repaint is out...it's a pretty iconic look). Any ideas?

Put some legs on it and make it a rotating "seatlle space-needle" 'esque battle station. Then put some gattling guns on the ends of that forked part. Throw on a bunch of communication accessories, and some satelites and SAM units. For added realism run some spaghetti wire down along the legs like power cables.

Something Cobra, huh?

How about putting in a scale big screen tv, some plush decor, and some comfy seats?

Then park it inside a wing of the MARS main factory. During 'lunch breaks' and 'late work nights', Han Destro and Baroness Leia can relax and watch their favorite sci-fi movie. Gold BAT-PO not included.

"That's no moon!"

"Stay on Target!"

Then you'd have to do a Jabba's Palace with Han Destro 'hanging' on the wall.

"Who's there?"
"Someone who loves you, Dahling..."

I think I just grossed myself out...

CabanaJack for the win! This sounds so awesome, I want to FIND a shell to do this with. If only I weren't moving....

Question: when you say "shell" exactly how much of it do you have? All the covers, canopies and hatches? Or bare bones stripped down base vehicle with no parts?

If you have at least the boarding ramp, top cover and cockpit canopy I'd say make it an Oktober Guard vehicle. Here's what I see. The Soviets recover a saucer shaped alien spacecraft shortly after the Roswell incident. They spend billions of dollars and decades reverse-engineering its technology and rebuilding what they could adding the forward mandibles (loaded with weapons) and the offset cockpit. They hold it in reserve as a last line of defense. After the rising threat of Cobra the vehicle is issued to the Oktober Guard who use it as their primary transport.

The Falcon has a real functional yet stylish design that I think fits well with other Soviet designs. It looks like something that they would rework to their purposes. I'd add missiles and cannons to the forward mandibles and a larger gun turret on the port side cargo loading hatch (opposite the boarding ramp). Throw on a few OG markings and its all ready for action.

I used to use one as a Green Goblin-esque underground lair. With the gun turret removed, I used that hole as a sort of manhole cover entrance. I had pulled out the cardboard guts as well so there was a path to the (former) cockpit which I used as a sewer entrance.

As a kid, I also liked turning it on it's side so the underside looked like the face of a techno castle.

If not my first concept, how about slapping some fins on it and making it a sting-ray shaped submarine? Give it a two-tone grey top and white bottom paint job.

Or lastly - Make it a modern version of the 1871 Russian shallow-draught coastal-defense round-battleship NOVGOROD.

A side effect of the design was that when the cannons fired, the ship spun like a top. Only two ever built.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I think I'm going to throw several of your ideas into a bag and mate them puppy-mill style. I'm going to make this thing into a floating fortress of sorts.

Undersea Base.

I have at least 5 Falcon shells (3 of them Vintage) w/ canopies/ramps/and rear covers and have been trying to decide if I actually want to keep them and use them for some project or another or get rid of them. If you want another one to merge together with this one for a larger playset/vehicle, hit me up and we'll work something out :)

Definitely a cool idea. Maybe use some kind of clear tubing as a walkway to the different base platforms. What better place to attch them then where the cockpit is positioned.

cut it apart and use all the detail as set pieces or backdrops in a factory or laboratory dio-setting.

If you can find a big enough pod, why not attempt to make Dash Rendar's vehicle? It sort of looked like a Falcon with some sort of Pod strapped to the front protrusions.

Doesn't have to be SW, just make the frieghter that supposedly Space Shot is the driver for.

Now that is the idea I have for my 2 shells. I was thinking of some sort of Deep Ocean Command Center for my SEALs. Once you decide what your going to do, show us... I would love to see it.

With many more seats, a command center, and computers everywhere, you could do a Star Brigade headquarters, or maybe the Space Shuttle Defiant MkII

Or better yet, find some behind-the-scenes shots of the Star Wars filming process. That could give you an idea where to cut the shell, since they only built the right side of the ship to save money.

You could have your own "Sound Stage Dio". Build some civilain filmmakers, some cameras and lights and there ya go.

You could have various backrounds/floors you could switch out for various scenes: Death Star Hanger, Echo Base, Yavin Base, Cloud City Landing Platform, Docking Bay 94, Asteroid Cave/Space Worm, Rebel Capitol Ship Hanger, Desert (ROTJ Deleted scene)...

Heck, you could do a 'Building the Falcon Dio' with British Carpenters putting it together. Same idea as the Sound Stage, but with bare wood showing.
