How Many Customs Do You Work on at the Same Time?

Got a tip to share? Have a question about the hobby? Need input on parts or weapons? Have great idea for a custom figure or vehicle? Too lazy to do it, or just want to share the idea with others? All that and more goes in here.

Looking at my work desk, I notice that I have several customs under way at the same time. I have a couple being painted, some dissassembled parts either drying or ready to be painted, some figs that have been disassembled and reassembled and some loose parts and accessories mixed in with the rest.

All told, I guess I have about 20-24 customs in various stages of development. I usually try to actively work on no more than three at one time. That is, I will paint one, then paint another while the first one dries, etc.

So, I'm curious, how many customs do you work on at a time? Do you prefer finishing one 100% before starting a new one? Or do you work on several at once?

20+ wow

While I don't work on that many I usually have 4or 5 in various stages. Now if we're talking customs that have reached a certain stage and gone no further, yeah 20+ might be accurate.

I wish I had the patience to wait until one was finished before starting another but sometimes creative inspiration takes you by the 'nads and forces you to start a new project.

I have anywhere between 1 and 5 or 6 at any given time. I find that usually I work in batches, with 3 or 4 going at once then starting another batch and so on. But sometimes inspiration really grabs hard and I work constantly on one figure until I have it just right.

I have about ten in progress right now. My main stumbling block is that I use Miliput to sculpt, and I like to get several customs ready to be sculpted on before I mix some up (to avoid wasting it). So a lot of them sit unfinished until I get a few more customs prepared.

I have three, in various stages of completion right now, with a fourth that still needs a few accessories made for it. With Transformers customs, I generally did one at a time. But, with Joes, the ideas seem to come faster. I also don't have to worry about loosing track of what I was reengineering, on the figs.

I also occasionally do a minor side custom, like painting brown trim onto two-pack Cobra Commander, or modifying Spirit's gun so that he can actually point it at the bad guys. (haven't started that one, yet.)

Usually about 3 or 4. Sometimes if I'm really excited about a character I may just do that one. Though not very often. I think I have ADCD (Attention Deficit Customizing Disorder)

ive easily got 100 on my 'to do' list. when i actually start doing customs, i work on 4-5 at a time.

I have around 70 or 80 on my "to do" list, which is part of the reason why I still have 120 carded 25th figures waiting to be opened. However I only have 3 or 4 in varying degrees of completion out on my work desk at any time. If Im working on a vehicle I only try to do one vehicle at a time because of the amount of space it takes up for all the disassembled parts.

Two currently in progress, between 20 and 30 on my to-do list. Most of which I have the parts for. I have been feeling a bit lazy recently. I think I have done too many customs over the past few years, and I need a break from it.

Ain't this the truth. I can be 99% done with a custom and have a cool idea strike me and set everything aside to carry out the new project.

I have about 20 custom projects in baggies with all of their parts and accessories waiting for time and inspiration to come along. While those are simmering on the back burner I usually have 3 customs going at the same time and switch between them as the mood suits me. Then I might drop all of them and have a dremel day where I try to cut and mod on every project. Then I'll go back to work on the three. Then have a sulpting day, or spray paint day, or add articulation day. It is constant and keeps me interested and entertained.

I have dozens of WIPs that i rarely get enough inspiration to work on. But now that I am in the mood for it I am doing some vehicle customs right now. I am working on 2 vehicles simultaneously. They are getting the same paint job... :shifty:

:rotfl: Yea I resemble that comment, I have a good 40 - 50 bagged up ready to be painted or modded, but it depends if I'm working on a team than its 4-6 at a time especially when the unifroms are the same or close to the same or if I'm doing army builders. But typically 3-5 at a time. Of course that depends on how long my grandson is going to be out of the house and if I'm not in the middle of a football deason on PS-2. :shifty:

I've got 4-5 WIPs that have been sitting on my table for EVER, so I'm not counting them. Usually I'll have about 4-5 active projects going.

Lately though, I've been having a bit of a personal rennaissance and I swear I've got like 20 active WIPS right now... :\

Seems like 4-6 wips at the same time is normal... I have 5 figures waiting to be painted/modded now. And I have ideas for maybe 5-10 more.

generally i work on 2-3 customs at the same time
