Has anyone done a full set of Slaughters Renegades in 25th form. I'm working on an idea to expand then team and want to do the originals first. Links guides photos are welcome. |

I did Mercer . . and I have Taurus pieced together (head up in the air, Destro v1 torso, Star Wars Yarna D'Al Gargan arms, Beachhead upper legs, Para Viper knees, and Snow-Job lower legs) but I still have some sculpting left to do before I start painting him. Red Dog I haven't figured out yet. I was debating using the Bazooka torso for him, but I'm waiting until I can see a movie Heavy Duty in hand before I start any work. |

I'm actually working on some right now. I guess I could post some WIPs to let you see what I've done, if that helps. |

Mercer (not shown) is just some Jakk's wrestler's head on a Viper body, with some coloring and tweaking done. Taurus is a repainted Sabretooth with Serpentor head and sculpted beard/moustache: Attachment: Red Dog is a Bazooka body (only just started on the painting, so the arms are quite blotchy) with a fully custom-sculpted head (still need to paint the eyes): Attachment: Based off Red Dog's bio, I figured he was a bit of a bruiser/street brawler, and maybe amateur/semi-pro boxer, so he has one severe cauliflower ear, with the other being slightly deformed. |

forgot to post info about those two: For Taurus, I cut off Sabretooth's hands and replaced with JvC Shipwreck's. I RIT-dyed the lower body to get a reddish-brown color (the legs took it well, but the crotch will need to be painted). I primed the vest with white, then gave about 4 coats of banana yellow, trimmed with black. I wanted a bit of an update from his original, yet keep the circus/carny look, and when I saw the Sabretooth figure, he was perfect for how I envisioned a modern Taurus. The head, I thought Serpy's head was a good base. I'll probably bush out the eyebrows, and I need to tweak the beard/mustache a bit. Rather than the beard he had originally, I wanted a longer beard with the curly-Q mustache. Red Dog will get white sleeves, and a large white "1" on his torso. To simulate the jersey look, I'll prime with gray, give a coat of silver, then wash with white. The arms are going to take a few more coats to even out the flesh. His head looks a bit small, but it's actually bigger than Bazooka's noggin. I sculpted it out of Pro-Sculpt, at about a 60-40 ratio so it is somewhat pliable, giving him more of a rugged, worn face. I'm not sure I'm happy with the right ear (the cauliflower ear), but it looks better in person than in the picture. I may need to lower his head on his neck a bit. For legs, I'm going to go probably with Buzzer legs, slightly modded so they don't look just like Buzzer's. Mercer I may change. The wrestler's head I used is just about perfect (sorry, can't remember his name), but I want him to have the ex-Viper look without being a straight-up Viper repaint. I'm still hashing him out in my head. Hope this helps with your thoughts. |

Wow thanks guys for the info, your customs look great. Since Mercer is a former Viper I figure a Viper torso and leggs with mods to the arms and a different head should do. Red Dog I'll make from scratch I have the perfect head from an old Corps figure (sorry no photo yet). But Taurus was to be my biggest stumbling bolck. But now I have an idea what way to go. Sculpting has been an area that I have stayed away from, but what the heck no guts no glory! I'll post some WIP as I get them. Thanks and I want to see the finished products of your Renegades. |
