As you can see in the first picture, it is the Wayne Gretzky action figure.



But Wayne Gretzky has a problem. He is in two pieces.





I am guessing that a piece of rubber held the two halves together, and over time it has decomposed. If anyone has this figure, or something similar, and knows of an easy way to fix it that would be swell. It is a Wayne Gretzky figure by Mattel, manufactured sometime around the early to mid 1980s.

Maybe boiling him would work, loosening the glue that holds the front and back piece together, but I am not sure that I would not cook it. I also can’t seem to get the head off, so that could be another problem.

starting @ the bottom, use a scalpel or craft knife & start cutting up either side slowly. once you get up to the arms carefully try to prise him open, if that doesnt work then cut his shoulders.
as he is wearing clothes any damage will be covered when you put him back together!

Boiling and prying looks to be the only way you'll get him apart. Find an elastic that matches the one inside him. Then put him back together. The trick to the boiling is to only leave the figure in theri for a minute or at a time. The head will come right off but all those pegs in the legs will take some time.
