Post subject: | Best metal color paints |
I am looking for some decent paint colors that can successfully imitate metal like steel, titaninum, or aluminum on plastic. Silver paint just doesn't do it. Any recommendations? |

Games Workshop has the best selection IE Bolt Metal Silver, Mitheral, etc. |

Thirdified. However, their 'Gunmetal' and Testor's Model Masters paint of that same name (I think it's Testor's I'm thinking of) aren't remotely the same color. GW's is a darker silver while the MM's a dark blue/black. I like mixing them to get 'true' gunmetal, lol. |

The Model Master line has a number of metallic colors, but in general they have very low opacity, so you'll want a good base color to put under them. |

I don't have many metallic paints, but I love Tamiya's metallic gray (XF-56). It's a charcoal color only metallic and it has great coverage. |

My local paint supply is all acrylics. Silver and gold tend to be thin but I've found painting a base color then a thin coat of the silver mimics metal rather nicely. |
