How does one go about opening an action feature torso? I have Ninja Force mohawk Zartan and just need the head, but i'd really like to salvage the torso. Is it like colour change Zartan where he'd need to be cut at the seem and then pried open? |

if he does not have a screw in his back then cutting the seem is the best method i have found for any figures but i recomend a BRAND NEW blade in the exacto because blade dullness can really do some damage as far as white stress marks and such......although its that much more dangerous.....i have heard of squeezing the torso in a vice clamp but u said u want a usable torso..........any way you go please be careful.....i will feel guilty if you come back saying my method cut your finger off ........some cutting advice...dont push hard.... u dont want to stress the blade to breaking point ......i recomend cutting with a rocking motion with as little pressure as still gets results....take it slow....let a sharp blade do the work |

Ok, that's basically how I go about taking apart 25th torsos as well. Don't worry about me cutting myself, I have more cuts from customizing Joes on my hands than for all other reasons put together, but thanks for the concern. |

oh i just thought about this reading your reply i have found that if you drop the fig in boiling water for about 30 seconds it goes alittle easier but i dont use this technique as often as i should but ya the cutting the seem i have been using for along time and i have tried other things and dont even bother with them anymore |

You can put him in the freezer for like 30 min, then twist his waist beyond it's stopping point. Sometimes that's enough to give you a split to work a flat head screw driver or other something to pry the body apart. |

i have never tried this........what kinda results do you get with this?.......chances good for the torso being intact? if so i may use it as i hate getting cut.......but i have gotten pretty good now and dont get cut cracking torsos......usually something stupid like cutting off a mustache or ear or such |

Ok, so I just got out of the hospital after suffering injuries trying to break apart a torso following Gunghojoe's advice...the lawsuit should be arriving to his door on Monday. Looking forward to meeting you! I used the technique of running my exacto along the seam and it the pried it open with a small flat tip screw driver. I wanted to save the torso, but then I saw it wasn't compatible with regular ARAH waists, so I didn't care after that. Too bad tho, it would have been a perfect upper to use for my custom. Were the ninja action features ever cool? |
