I have been doing some serious thinking about Fort Wadsworth and the JOEs lately.

The JOEs were stationed out of the Motor Pool there and were supposed to provide transportation for the Chaplains Assistants barracked there and other Base personnel.

I am curious as to what other types of vehicles (make and model) the JOEs would have on hand to keep up the facade of a fully functional Motor Pool to hide the fact they were hiding the PIT below. I realize there needs to be a bunch of OD green vehicles nearby for use.

I figure there would be:

Jeeps-quintessential/prerequisite US Army vehicle
Buses-shown in the Marvel run after bringing the Chaplains Assistants back after Cobra attacked the PIT
Sedans-for transporting Officers to official functions
Trucks-maybe a few M35 deuce and half ones, maybe a few SUV types?

I'm also thinking the JOEs would need to have a small staff of Motor Pool personel (drivers, mechanics, office staff) to stay behind to keep up the facade if the JOEs are called away on a mission. If the Base Commander needed a ride and when someone called up to arrange a vehicle, the phone rang and rang. This leads to the 'where would they would be barracked' issues I haven't thought through yet.

I am also considering a section of the GIJOE universe that I don't believe has ever been covered, even may suggest it for a Group Project. The JOEs used Maguire AFB as a hub for missions.

Now I used my Google-Fu and discovered it was around a hour travel time from Fort Wadsworth to Maguire AFB. I can't see the JOEs transporting a bunch of heavy equipment back and forth from Maguire to Fort Wadsworth and back again. I am thinking there is another mini-PIT located in a restricted area in a JOE-dedicated hanger on the field. Extra MOBATs, VAMPs, HALs, Whirlwinds, Wolverines, VAMP Mark IIs, and APCs would be stored there. Also a majority of the necessary select mission gear would be stored there so the JOEs would only really need to transport personnel to Maguire instead of full combat kits. I would still keep gear at the regular PIT.

We know the Marvel run had a dedicated area for parking Skystrikers, which the Dreadnoks attacked. Wild Bill and Ace flew C-130s from/to Maguire all the time. The JOEs need a dedicated staging and support area to prepare mission loads. The C-130s could pull in and get loaded up, then taxi out and fly away.

This also means some new dedicated Air Force JOEs (Flight Line Security, C-130 pilots/crew/ground crew, Tower crew, hanger support crew, etc). I remember there is a precedent for this in the comic when Slipstream gave a Transformer toy to a mechanic and there were Maguire AFB personnel shown in other issues.

So I need some answers to these questions:

1) What other regular US Army vehicles would be used at a Motor Pool?

2) What personnel would the JOEs need at Maguire AFB?

3) What other personnel would be needed? They may not be actual JOEs, but military personnel vetted to support the JOE Team while keeping security.

Making a Fort Wadsworth version of the Pit is a pipe dream of mine, so I hope you make some headway with yours. The cheap plastic jeeps made by Gay Toys in the 80's would probably be accurate. There have been some great customs in which the painting has more than made up for the low plastic quality.
