Post subject:  Rounding out my Council of Evil - Suggestions?

I may have asked this before, bringing it up again as I'm getting closer to finished and could use more suggestions.

So I need twelve 80's/90's villains to make customs of for a long term project. Here's who I've done so far:

1)Doctor Claw (Inspector Gadget
2)Miles Mayhem (M.A.S.K)
3)Doctor Scarab (Bionic 6)
4)Mumm-Ra (Thundercats)
5) The Shredder (TMNT)
6)Lord Dread (Captain Power)
7)Genghis Rex (Dinosaucers)

Ideally, each character should have had an action figure based toyline and cartoon around the 80's and 90's, and had been the leader of some sort of organization. I'd like to steer away from properties which were not popularized in either their toy or cartoon release (for example, The Real Ghostbusters, Police Academy, Robocop, etc all had toylines and cartoons, but were most well known as live action movie franchises). I'd consider Filmation's Ghostbusters fair game, however, as the old live action show was all but forgotten when the toys and cartoon came out. Also, one villain per property... Krang doesn't fit because I've already got Shredder. Though, I'd allow both Hordak and Skeletor if I came up with interesting figures for both.

Here are some characters I'm considering:

Skeletor (Masters of the Universe) obvious and likely choice, fits in with the rest and can be customized to scale. might incorporate some of the live action character design.

Monstarr (Silverhawks) good as a counterpart to Mumm-Ra, maybe, but I was never very familiar with the show or really liked his design

Xanatos (Gargoyles) not the most interesting choice visually, but loved the show

Prime Evil (Filmation's Ghostbusters) tempting as an obscure choice

General Spydrax (Sectaurs) a likely choice, meets the criteria, is little more obscure, and should be a fun design to update

Skull Master (Mighty Max) toys really weren't quite action figures, and I really don't remember him much despite enjoying the cartoon.

Captain Polution (Captain Planet) only know about him because I went and looked up CP villains. goofy, but could be fun.

Of those, only 2 are especially appealing (Spydrax and Skeletor) so if you can think of others, please suggest them!

brave star villian ?, if i remember correct skeleton face black cowboy duds.

voltron ?

what about someone from the legion of doom?

not sure it fits exactly but tales from the crypt had figures and a cartoon. the crypt keeper might be the coolest 90's evil character.

Interesting project! Here are a couple that leaped to mind:

-Venger from the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon. This one is questionable, since the franchise was obviously popularized by its namesake role-playing game, but from what I understand, the show bears little resemblance to its source material. I just always liked the character design, although I remember him looking cooler as a kid than he did when I looked him up a few minutes ago.

-Overlord from Spiral Zone. Relatively obscure, but no more so than Dr. Scarab. I like the character design, and I think he would look pretty cool in 1:18 scale.

-And speaking of guys named Overlord, Overlord from Blackstar. Another obscure dude, but might make for a good-looking figure.

-Dr. Terror from Centurions. Now this would be an interesting challenge. I've never seen the cartoon (if there even was one), and I don't know anyone who owned a Dr. Terror, but he's kind of cool-looking.

-Metlar from Inhumanoids. He'd probably have to be a larger-scale figure, but I'm pretty sure he was the main villain (another cartoon I've never seen). Tendril was the cooler-looking villain, though.

-The Emperor from Starcom. Yet another cartoon I never saw, but the figure is kind of hilarious-looking and might be fun.

-Hun-Dred from Robo Force. This is my favorite possibility, just because it would be fun to see how you would translate that design into custom form. Now that I think about it, I'm kind of tempted to try it myself.

Some great suggestions, keep them coming!

Gargamel occurred to me as well... He doesn't quite fit in with the feel of the rest of the group, but it would be interesting to do an modern take on the character design.

Tex-Hex! Good suggestion. There have been some great ARAH style customs of him, but I don't remember seeing any modern style versions. Plus, I actually had a BraveStarr figures, so this one is a strong maybe.Good call!

I should have mentioned, Cobra Commander is the centerpiece of the group, and technically the 13th figure, but you're exactly right in that he belongs in the list!
M. Bison is tempting. I was a big SF fan, he fits in style-wise, and he did have an action figure back in the day... plus SF was released under the GI Joe brand so he already fits into that world... this one is a possibility. I like Malefica (Maleficent?) because I would like there to be some women in the group, but with her and some of those other suggestions, they feel like they're from too big of properties... not bad suggestions, just not quiet what I'm thinking of for the group.

Ugh, wow. This exactly. Perfect suggestions all around. So I'm realizing another criteria I'd like to loosely adhere to is characters from toy properties where I actually actively followed the cartoon or owned toys from. Hun-Dred passes ALL my criteria, with the added bonus that I had Robo Force bedsheets for a long time (despite only owning a few toys and never really catching the show), plus he'd be an amazing figure to try to capture with a custom.

And, despite never owning a toy or seeing the show, Dr. Terror is also a striking enough design to be very tempting to include, as well.

Great ideas!

Good suggestions, but both of these shows might be too "meta" (especially Venture Bros). The bad guys are already parodies/satires/commentaries on the characters I'm trying to focus on, and while I'm crazy about both of them, I think I'm going to stick to the characters they're drawn from.

KOMPLEX (Bucky O'Haire)

Great list. For some reason, I'm a little adverse to Disney villains, even Xanatos. I could do a whole set of JUST Disney bad guys... which I may tackle one day. Bloth has appealed to me before, but always falls off my radar for some reason. He'd definitely be a fun and challenging custom. Darkstorm is also in that sweet spot of coming from a toyline I was aware of and had one or two figures from as a kid.

Bucky O'Haire is another of those worlds where I'd be tempted to just update all the characters. I don't remember a lot about it, but it had great character designs, and I didn't realize KOMPLEX had a battlesuit like Krangs. Doesn't feel quite right for what I'm working on, but not a bad idea at all.

This is super helpful guys. Thanks for throwing out the ideas. Some of these are definitely gonna be in the final roster, thanks for putting up with my seemingly arbitrary criteria and helping me brain storm!

For Xanatos you could put him in his Gargoyle Armour.

Sticking with Gargoles, how about demona? She was great.
The Pack? They were a great team.
Maybe Macbeth? Or how about Puck?
