"Hey look how awesome I am REAL SILVER DESTRO HEAD" the very first custom i had planned to do was a destro v1, with a subtle twist. a coworker was gracious enough to help me along! the head for that one was damaged during a vulcanizing "experiment" ....lol..not the coworker the destro!

i got impatient and my first destro v1 body became a custom of it's own "destro's body"......

finally some no heat mold making material and another v1 destro head and we were back in it. that's where we stood for several months, life and work and repeat.

heres where i'm at today! i've recruited yet another coworkers expertise and things are looking great!

The results look quite promising, the details seem to have come out very good. What's the stuff/technique you've used?

not sure on the two part product used to make the rubber mold, it is no or low heat though!

what you see here is wax. next this wax "tree" gets put in a mold and investment, like plaster, is poured over it. hopefully monday it will go in the oven to burn the wax out.

that's when the magic will happen :) if everything works i get a couple perfectly cast sterling silver destro heads....

i'm hoping i got the modern era one cut at a good angle. i couldn't carry a figure in with me to test fit.

i only have enough silver for 2 heads but we added an extra in case there is a problem with the cast. i'm hoping for one excellent v1 and my modded head.

it's nice having the rubber mold, so if i can get more silver i can make another run.

we casted the destro heads this morning. they turned out pretty good. lots of pits and a few voids. i'm glad i was able to use some scrap and cast an extra. you can see a big void right between the eyes of the middle one.

took a few at lunch to cut them loose and grind down where they attached. i also polished them a bit on a buffer with a little green rouge @ 3600 rpm.
then a round through the tumbler with steel pins and mystery tumbling solution.

there are a few pits that i might fill in with a laser welder and the new style might get gold plated :) hopefully i'll have them on figures by this weekend.

very hard to photograp these since they are so shiney. still some touch ups to do on the neck of goldy and i think i'll do a repaint of classic destro to match "destro's body"

Dang dude. That's awesome. You really need separate threads for this...like "Hey look how awesome I am REAL SILVER DESTRO HEAD" cause I would click on that for sure.

So... how much for one?

thanks and done, kinda :)

i'm really not in a position for selling any. in the beginning i was working with someone that had casting equipment at home, but as it stands i can't just cast more anytime i want or for profit. i was wanting full on production with waxes, silver casts rough and polished, and possibly some gold casts for sale.

there is also the cost of the metal .the v1 destro head weighs 17.4g, i don't even know the price of silver at the moment. all that stuff never got figured cost v. price and such.

Very cool... I've seen people make back yard forges for melting and casting aluminum or bronze... Always thought it'd be cool

What kind of wax did you use to make the casts?

That's awesome dude. Glad you took the advice - no need to be humble when what you've done is awesome. Good work!

"I've seen people make back yard forges for melting and casting aluminum or bronze..."

a torch and a crucible and your good. i've read about cuddlebone casting "pirates" would be really cool to try out.

the process we used is "lost wax" or "investment" casting. lots of things are cast this way ,from jewelery to firearm parts. as far as type of wax ,it comes in pellet form and we melt it in a pressurized "wax pot". i'm sure there are different temps and types. you can see the "sprue wax" is different colors.

thanks for all the kind words!
