The head is too small for use with larger bodies, but Outback is supposed to be a big dude. Originally I was going to use a reactive armor torso for him, but that didn't seem right for the character to me. I have since switched to a Joe Colton torso, but that has been done to death by other customizers and really doesn't have the "pop" factor I was looking for. I will try to add some pics tonight. Does Angelforge have their own Outback sculpt? Perhaps it would be a more proportionate size for what I need. I can't view your image (not your fault, my workplace blocks some image hosting sites) so my thoughts may be a bit off. Have you thought about using an RAH head on a Retalliation Roadblock body? I've found that what makes the biggest difference in the old heads and the newer ones is the lack of detailed ears and hair. You may sand off the sides of his head, transplant some ears, and then use some sort of sculpting medium to build up some more detailed hair. When painted in the same skin tone you choose for the rest of the figure, it should look pretty seamless and look timelessly Outback. I would suggest lots of pouches, and an oversized backpack that you paint to make the details pop. meandnooneelse wrote: 3) Colonel Hawk - I plan to do a modern version based on the '82 figure. I will use Renegades Duke for the head. My hangup here is the only thing that makes him stand apart from the other OG13 is his silver accents. I'm not sure how I want to translate this to a modern custom. Any suggestions? Even though I had an 83 Hawk figure, my definitive take on the character was Ed Vosburg's depiction in the early comic run. So for me, the silver highlights don't matter so much. However, if you rely on a blond crew cut, he won't look much different than Duke. What I might suggest here is to track down a BBI baseball cap. Hawk was shown wearing one in the early commercials. Paint it OD green and add a silver bird to the front. For any needed silver accents, maybe add some gadgetry to his webgear. Hawk is an artillery guy, so he may need some tech stuff to compute trajectories, survey territory, etc. Paint these gadgets silver and they may be enough to suggest the homage to the original figure. |

Some good ideas here, thanks! I will see if I can find some old comic images of Hawk online. Too bad the free digital comic library is shut down. I'm using the POC Duke head for all of my Duke figures and Renegades Duke for Hawk, so they will definitely look different. |

I still plan on doing a Hawk with the two-tone uniform. Some of the Marvel issues (like the Borovia mission briefing), he had on a white t-shirt and camo pants. I'm thinking using v1 Hawk legs and a v1 Zap torso. I like him having a commando sweater. |

The 2nd Outback looks good, that's the one I'd stick with. It's amazing how much better that torso looks with the middle strap painted in. Did you match the existing straps or paint them all? |

If you want to keep the silver accents for Hawk I'd go with a gray color for the webgear with silver buckles, etc. |

Do you do any figure facial sculpting, like beards? If so, I might have a recipe for you, depending on how you want your outback to look. |
