I have always wondered who builds all the mission briefings models for the assault team to look over before a mission. Many movies show the end result, but they never show who makes the model. I'm guessing someone in Intelligence did it, since they have access to all the information. Someone in Analysis has to look over satellite imagery, or someone has to gather the HUMINT data, etc. Is there a generic Mission Specialist or specific MOS for this? |

Based on the show Homeland I would guess some type of low level CIA analyst. |

Intelligence Analyst is the most common term for the person that would put together materials for a mission briefing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intelligence_analysis That's about as good a description as anyone can give you. The big plans are called o-plans - and they are done as a big joint effort between a lot of people. Here's an example: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ ... effort.htm Source: Been one on the civilian side for investigations. Fun stuff. - R |

Don't know why I didn't just do this before... Gonna have a simple one thread for all my various questions. Todays question, since I dislike different GIJOE characters using the same codename, what suggestions do you have for Doc's niece? Can anyone suggest a new codename for Carla Greer? |

Wipe her from existence, because having her be related to real Doc is just stupid. |

Lance Sputnik wrote: Wipe her from existence, because having her be related to real Doc is just stupid. Not really. Just like Cops and Firemen, it is pretty common for people to serve in the military if their parents did. You just get accustomed to that kind of life and choose to pursue it yourself. As for Carla Greer, Doc, unlike most other codenames, that is what most of the Joes would call her anyway regardless of her codename Suture Stitches Whiskey (from 68W, army medic MOS) |

Quote: As for Carla Greer, Doc, unlike most other codenames, that is what most of the Joes would call her anyway regardless of her codename agree with pluv on this one - that's just a bad particular example. she could have the greatest code name ever, and they'd still just call her Doc. If there's anything to be upset about it's that they even bothered to make "Doc" an actual code name for anyone. I think you'll hit on some better shared names to address at some point, but real life application to this one, results in the same name no matter how clever of a code name you get. |

pluv wrote: Whiskey (from 68W, army medic MOS) Holy ____ Just had a flash of brilliance for a new medic guy from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), aka "Nightstalkers" Special Operations Aviation Regiment = SOAR SOAR sounds like sour, as in whiskey sour. Whiskey made in Kentucky, home of the SOAR unit. Well, maybe call him 'Bourbon'? Kind of a stretch, but it is the coming up with a background that is the fun part. Start with this, add that, change this, etc... |

'Stitches' is prefect, imho. 'Doc' is okay if one assumes the official codename designations were taken from what they were already being called when possible into account. |

Stitches would be a nice homage to an old member of this board who was ultimately too nuts for us... |
