I'm needing to make an ammobelt for a guy I'm making, connecting his custom weapon to movie HeavyDuty's pack. I'm planning to use toothpick tips for the rounds, but I'm stumped for the belt itself. I'm wanting it removable at both ends, realistically flexible, and about 3.5" long. Any help, guys? |

On the custom I linked to below, I used an audio cord, one of the ones to connect an ipod to a car stereo, to make the duffel bag shoulder strap, it was pretty flat, extremely flexible, and very durable. Might be too thick, but may work. I think you could even shave one side down with an exacto to make it thinner and the wires inside would still make it durable. http://www.joecustoms.com/customs/customs_specific_item.php?kind=figure&uid=7516&id=13128 |

I have thought about doing something similar, only with a vehicle turret mount .50 cal. I was considering attaching the "rounds" between two thin strips of black or gold cloth, with a small gap between the "rounds", for flexibility. The other thing I have done, is to dip a plastic ammo belt in boiling water, bend it to the shape you want, then a quick dip into ice water, to make it hold the new shapes memory. It will retain the new shape and flex a bit, but not nearly as much as the fabric would give. I guess it just depends on what shape you need from it. |

How about strips of electrical tape? Place one strip sticky side up and place your rounds on it, with the correct distance between the rounds. The place another strip sticky side down on to the rounds? |

I used 2 different sized styrene rods for the rounds and sculpted links with green stuff. You can make the whole belt out of green stuff, flex-rex, or even copy paper which would be more durable and still flexible after you painted it. I've used styrene strips to make removable bandoliers and I think they could work for ammo belts too. If you want to go insane, you could make each link for the ammo belt out of styrene strips just like the real thing. Guaranteed flexibility but you'd need to make a lot of them, lol. |

not very flexable but this is just zip ties painted with a gold marker. maybe a smaller zip tie with your rounds glued on. |
