I have a bit of a problem with a custom for the GP, in that the right wrist joint for ROC Leatherneck (non-suicide 25th Anniversary Duke) is broken at the peg... Is there a fix for this that preserves the wrist movement?

I have used a piece of staple to reinforce a broken wrist stub.

Cool. What did you do with it? Did you need to do any drilling into the stub? If so, using what? Was any glue required? Was the wrist's functionality preserved?

I heated up a staple and pushed it into the peg stub to make a hole and pulled it out, then I did it to the hand and pulled it out. Cut a piece of staple to fit into both sides, and reassemble. If you have the stub out you can super glue it. Good luck.

Yeah I managed to get the stub out of the hand by softening the plastic up and forcing it out.

Since two of my last four jobs had this as a factor, though... any recommendation on proper staple size?

Just a regular paper staple. It gives the glued joint a little more support than just glue. I would lightly sand the plug so there is less tension on the arm, so it can twist with out getting stuck.

Thanks.

One more question: what do I use to heat up the staple?

I use one of those small candles, and hold the staple in small needle nose pliers.

I've used a heated cushion pin. Sometimes if the plastic isn't soft enough or, enough plastic to melt, I'll use a pin drill (tiny screwdriver drill with itty bitty drill bits. Pretty similar to how I did these. http://wiki.joecustoms.com/wiki/Pinning_is_Winning
