Does Boil-And-Pop work on the GI Joe movie figs? The plastic is harder and more brittle. I was a little worried about trying it. I'm trying to separate the top part of a split Torso from the bottom, but was hoping to not have to crack the torso to do it.

I believe you have to crack the torso on all modern joes to separate it, if I'm correctly understanding what you are asking.

Yeah, I was hoping to do it without cracking the torso. The movie fig doesn't have a screw holding the torso together as far as I can tell. (In this case it's a Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes). There's a hole in the back for his gear, but I couldn't see a screw.

I guess my next question is, how hard is it to crack the torso without damaging it?

its pretty easy. I use the socket stabilzer method with the socket secured in a vise and I use a sharp chisel instead of a flathead screwdriver.

I just popped my first torso without any damage. I have destroyed a few before.

in this case I boiled water then put the figure in it (rolling boil from microwave)

then after 1m or so pulled it out with tweezers (too hot) shook off scalding water

then grabbed the lower most portion with channel locks (teeth of the cl on the two apposing seems)

only a little pressure and it fell apart.

I figured that I would ruin yet another torso, but was pleasantly surprised. I really need a vice, workbench, and my own workspace lol

Boiling water and prying worked best for me. I don't think my screwdriver was sharp enough for the hammer method. Managed to transplant the arms from a ROC Ripcord to the torso of the Walmart Finn (Jakku) figure. My purpose is to have an SA Rey with Finn's jacket and an SA Finn, from the brief scene in TFA when they run into the bunker.

The chest cavity for the Walmart Finn and the Ripcord were so similar that it worked perfectly. I will post pics when the glue dries.

I use a bench vise to squeeze the figures (wrapped in an old cloth) apart. I'll warn you, though, that figures from the first movie are by far the most difficult modern design figures to pop open. No idea why, but they put up a lot more of a fight than any other modern era figures (on the other end of things, I've been anble to pop open several Renegades figures without any tools at all...Scarlett and CC especially).
