At my parents house visiting today and saw this out among all the chaos of toys being played with by 3 boys. This custom was given to my nephew years ago and has been through quite a bit of play by 3 cousins at my parents house. It's a little dinged up, but I'm surprised at how well those "cheap" paints are holding up.

These are the paint brands I use 95% of the time. I use a little tamiya and a little gamesworkshop too.

Dusty, I also use the basic paints that you showed. I like a lot the Plaid paints as well.

Craftsmart I think is the "in house" Michael's cheaper version of Plaid

I've got to try that matte varnish though.

newwavepop they aren't by the models
they have their own aisle

I am pretty sure it is the clear coat that makes the biggest difference for longevity. Although, if you don't properly clean the plastic, first, everything turns to crap!
