First of all let me say how great this site is and how awesome all of you customizers are. There are so many great/funny customs here. Id love to be able to do some of my own but i dont have the talents or the patience. I do have lots of character ideas and Im looking to come up with some more and Im looking for help coming up with code names. If anyone knows of a website generator, Id appreciate it if you would let me know. Thanks and YO JOE !

don't be too intimidated about customizing. everyone has different talents but skill is learned. I have been in awe of the hobby since the beginning too, as soon as I found the site I realized that custom figures are art. there are no bad customs. it's all about having fun and enjoying what you make. some customizers keep improving a figure every time they discover a better base ,or part, or just when they feel they have improved and want to revisit a favorite character.

when I got going making customs it was just swapping o-ring parts, then paint (rather poorly). I was trying to paint figures how I paint canvas too thick and too fast. it was seeing others great figures and asking, lots of asking questions.

I hope you at least try your hand at customs, but if not dark jedi might be able to help you out. he designs a lot of characters with the various (maybe just one) figure programs. if you are thinking about a series of art check out past nastifications awesome art.

as far as character names I had a lot of fun coming up with new cobra la names during that group project. i used some scientific names that sounded cool and some other greek? or latin as well. i'd say start with what the figure does then check out some literature, like if a weapons specialist check out some gun magazine or movies. just as an example an arms dealer named "angel king" would be cool. that is what the arms dealer called ak47's in a movie called "lord of war". I know I get a kick when I see a reference like that.

Welcome, JMO!
Good to hear you have enough inspiration and ideas. Now you just have to take the next step, but don´t think you´re short of talent or patience. Start easy by just repainting a head and/or torso. Those are the easiest, without moving parts. Don't be afraid, we al started somewhere. And please post pics of your work, this is a great community to get some useful feedback!

We actually used this random character creator for a Group Project. They give you a bit of bio to go with the random names. Always good for a starting point if your drawing a blank.

And to give you an idea of what people cam eup with based off of it.
