Hello.

I have a quick customizing question. I know that a black wash can bring out details on a lighter colored figure, but I'm not sure what color wash would work with black plastic. To narrow it down, the items I'm looking to apply the wash to are the Boss Fight Blind Bag Alien set. I managed to get a black set and I want to give it some detail.

I think your best bet would be dry brushing a lighter color. A wash works because the wash simulates depth and shadow by filling in details with a color darker than the base color.

If the parts aren't true black and more dark grey, a black wash might still work but would be pretty subtle. Otherwise you can't really simulate shadowing on something darker than the color of your wash.

Maybe a watered down white, silver, gold, or light grey

I used a grey paint for a wash and a metallic sharpie for the eyes. It came out good enough for what I wanted to accomplish.

Maybe mix a different color into the black like a dark blue, green, or red. In the natural world there isn't really any "true black" so maybe make your own black by mixing colors, instead of using a black out of a pot.
