Felt like I was really in the flow of working. Found the right donor figure and went to boil some water in the microwave to disassemble it.

Walked back over after a few minutes (my shop microwave usually takes a little while to get the water up to temperature) and saw the cup sitting on the counter and figured I just forget to put the mug in. Opened the door and was greeted by a cloud of toxic smoke and a decent approximation of The Thing (Carpenter not Lee/Kirby) where the figure used to be.

:-/

I think this is my biggest goof since I accidentally glued my foot to the carpet in a rush to finish a figure for the first Liberty group project.

sorry for your trouble! i was thinking some wounding blow from a dremel, that is what just got me! the bit i was using is what i would call an end-mill or drum burr and is the largest one i have prolly 9mm. it walked out of the "hat" i was hollowing out and right into my left boogerhook.

speaking of gluing and carpet ... our last house had a type of Berber carpet in the basement, but for some ungodly reason, it would snag easily and get 'runners' of carpet thread ... like 6+ inches

rather than leave those fibers loose, I decided to try and re-create the carpet loops with a toothpick and superglue

did you guys know that superglue + carpet fibers get REALLY HOT?

.blisters.
