Has anyone tried modifying Boss Fight Studio's Roman armor pieces, like this chest armor? Specifically, I'm considering both additive and subtractive modifications--building onto the piece with green stuff and carving away some of the existing details--but I've never actually had one of these pieces and I'm not sure how the material would take such mods. |

Just like any other rubbery plastic secondary similar to Joes or Star Wars vests and skirts. I cut and reassemble and sculpting over them all the time. All. The. Time. I get a lot of mileage out of model sprue cutters that can cut through the thicker pieces without a) slicing through my finger or b) leaving dremel shred marks. Plus when cutting the skirts off the chest armor it is a little easier to follow the cut line when the angles and curves get in the way. Even better than that though is a peg sized drill bit. Since so much of the knight and fanasty armor and sheaths are modular, being able to drill the holes to plug in the modular bits can drasticlaly change the overall look of things without a ton of hassle. |

Ooh, that's really smart. Thanks for the tip! |

Another question on this topic: has anyone tried altering the shape of these pieces, maybe with heat? The chest piece featured in the original post is so form-fitting that I'm having trouble getting it to fit well over a non-BFS female torso. I'm wondering if there's a way I can re-form it to the contours of another figure. |

i haven't heated any, but i think stretching it over too much will misshape it . i have cut the connection pieces off a few joe armors and rewired them to fit bigger torsos. if it is staying on you could grind down the torso. the lady pred has a thin flat torso so i filled the armor with hot glue. |

More than one way to skin a flat, dead cat eh? |

Oh wow, that's really cool! I decided to take this approach myself. So far, so good. Thanks for the suggestion. |
