Post subject:  Techniques for swapping lower legs on MTF figures
... or BFS, or any modern-style figures without separable thighs. I assume it involves boiling/heating and a lot of fiddling, but I've yet to make it work. Any suggestions?

I haven't tried, or if i did can't recall. is there a rivet? i was getting ready to try and remove retro stalkers lower legs @ knee which have no exposed rivet so am interested too.

There's a real thorough WM Retro series breakdown thread on the HissTank boards that addresses this.

TL;DR: the only way to remove the lower legs is to heat the leg until it's pliable enough to expose the bar running through the knee joint and then cut through the bar.

thanks for that link. i'm late to the party with the retro figures so it is really helpful. i about tore up one stalker at the waist trying to boil/pop it there.

are the mtf legs you want to take apart like the one here?

i have a dedicated steel "link?" that is about 1/4" thick with 2 holes in it. i boil legs and use a jewelers beading tool to push pins out over the hole. if one side is bigger push from the small side. the hotter the easier they come out. i have pushed some without heat and it works, but might destroy the pins.

Ohhhh. That's really helpful. I assumed the pins were part of the knee piece. I didn't realize they're a separate piece going through the legs and the knee piece. That's super helpful. Thanks for the info! One thing...

hey i'm assuming they are separate pins! proceed with caution.

i'll get a pic of what i use. basically anything with a strong surface along with a hole to catch the pin/give it room to push.
