Anyone have a good technique for giving figures glasses (not sunglasses)? Not worried about making them removable, just want something that looks natural and to-scale. |

I've used ink pen springs, tiny needle nose pliers, and lots of patience. Straighten the spring and then shape one lens frame about an inch from the end of the spring. Next duplicate that effort right beside it, do not leave room for a nose bridge, it will take shape as you form the second lens frame. Don't worry if its not perfectly flat, just use your pliers and grip both lens frames to set them on the same plane. Finally bend both earpieces back to fit the head and trim to length. Now, to be fair, I've only used this technique twice on Baroness but it its possible. Attachment: Baroness.jpg [ 55.34 KiB | Viewed 20822 times ] Attachment:

Those look pretty dang good for one piece of wire. I drilled holes for the glasses arms on figures I've made with glasses. I made some with brass and steel wire before, but I had access to all the good jewelers toys. A laser welder or torch. I tried using one piece of wire and even using 2 very thin wires twisted together then bent to shape. Never really happy with them. I have a small sheet of glasses made like the small metal parts mini guys use. I've only played with one style. The hardest thing about them is deciding where to bend the arms. The piece is paper thin so would probably break or crease if you bent, then unbent. I'll add a link when I find them again. like this on ebay. might be where i purchased mine, but i'm not sure. https://www.ebay.com/itm/114856782584 |

I’ve made them using clear blister packaging. Cut out the shape, bend, and then paint the edges. There’s been a few 1:18 scale glasses released over the years. Dr. Jones Sr, Spylounge, Resolute Baroness, and ROC Baroness all work well. I think Jurassic Park also had a figure with glasses recently. |

You may have more patience than I. daremo wrote: I’ve made them using clear blister packaging. Cut out the shape, bend, and then paint the edges. Hadn't seen all of these. hay have to see what I can dig up. 2DARK2C wrote: I've seen these on ebay and always wondered about them. Napoleon there doesn't look half bad! Thanks everybody! This gives me a lot to experiment with. |

That head is a cast of a SW Luke I think. No idea which one. I think I have a factory head like it, but got it loose iirc I'm gonna have to make ND now. |

That makes sense since Luke is the original Napoleon Dynamite, in so far as Tatooine is the Preston, Idaho, of the Star Wars Universe. Side note: my mother is from Preston (current population 5,771, and only a 4,000-ish when my mother was born), which prior to ND had no cultural footprint whatsoever. |

I've used my leather puncher to imprint the circles on action figure blister, then trimmed them with frames from the surrounding area. Works for square too, by reshaping the hole punch with some jeweler's pliers. |

Hadn't looked at leather hole punches. Thanks for the tip! |

I go an entirely different route, which obscures the eyes if you can live with it. I use epoxy to sculpt the lenses directly onto the head, then use staples glued on the sides of the face as the legs of the eyewear. Normally sky blue is used as a stand-in for clear, but sometimes other light colors if they better fit the designs. It's a more stylized approached, but it works for me. http://www.joecustoms.com/customs/custo ... 1&id=20036 http://www.joecustoms.com/customs/custo ... 1&id=12019 http://www.joecustoms.com/customs/custo ... 1&id=11986 |

Eyeglasses are necessary for both excellent eyesight and elegance. Anti-reflective coatings, blue light filters, and lightweight materials have improved the comfort and functionality of glasses. Accept these advancements for better eye health and a trendy appearance. |
