| Post subject: | Part suggestions needed for a Micronaut custom! |
I'm working on some custom Micronauts figures, and I'm stuck on a particular piece: the helmet/dome/shield/giant clear thingy that he wears. The custom doesn't need a piece that perfectly replicates the original piece, but rather one that captures the idea of a large-ish sealed space helmet/protective dome. I feel like I've seen a part that would be perfect, but I can't put my finger on it. Any suggestions would be very welcome! The part in question:

Well how about the space suit set from various FMF Eagle Force figs seen here on Major Draconis.

they kind of look like some older pencil sharpeners. scale might be off though.  i'd be looking at found items like candy or maybe travel size toiletry tops. |

I used the upper body of the DC Multiverse Mr. Freeze figure from a while back to do an Astro-Viper with a similar look...  I painted the inside of the visor gold, but it is normally clear. |

Did you have to Dremel it off the body, or were there separate pieces you could remove and reattach? |

On that Astro-Viper, it's an upper torso transplant, so it's not removable. It was a while ago I made that, but I think it was roomy enough you could dremel it out to work as a removable unit on a thinner torso. |

I still feel like there's something out there that matches even more closely, but if I end up using something else for this project, I'll still put that Mr. Freeze helmet to good use. |

the imagenext line has lots of armor/helmet pieces that might work too. there is a couple mr. freeze for sure with clear/blue. |

I liked both of those helmet ideas so much that I'm going to make both the white and yellow Galactic Defenders, with two different helmet styles. I got the Mr. Freeze in the mail yesterday and cracked the chest open tonight (which went shockingly well; he came right apart with a couple of taps on the X-Acto). Thanks again for the suggestions, dudes: I was coming up blank, and you guys came through big-time! |
