Aw, don't be down on yourself, TC. I'm pretty sure you could take him in a fight.

Man I am jealous- a few months ago I started thinking on how to make a Devastator myself - (every time I’d see those CAT trucks in Walmart) but never got around to even starting it

Awesome job! All around are you going to upsize the original Devastator head- because that would be great – at 5-6 that is huge and I can only imagine how what he weighs !

I look forward to seeing him completed and stomping on some Joes as the ‘noks ride ontop

If Devestator fell over, our own TC could easily be crushed.

Finished up the lower arms 9:00PM- so these shots were all in the dark basically. Now the only major items missing are the head and hands. I'm going to attempt to get him home over the weekend so I can start painting the details on him.

That gets more impressive every time I see it. Great work so far! No chest wing? (Ah, the reference pic on p1 doesn't have it either.)

If I'd had an actual idea for elbows, I might critique the straight-arm pose, but I have none. Attaching the lower arms straight-on is the best I could have come with too.

One thing I will suggest is to hide the cylinder connector between the crane and the dump truck. It's off-center (necessarily, due to the dump truck's uneven contour), but right now, it detracts from the merged robot look. (The first two pics in the last set really center on the connector, which further drew focus to it.) The reference pic has the crane and dump truck connected with a trapezoid to illude a tapered chest. Having something similar, like how you did the waist panel, but recessed an inch or two would hide the connector and make Devastator that much better. :)

I'm eagerly awaiting to see what you have planned for the hands.

Thanks, Mid. I had articulating elbows for him (I used outdoor spot light parts) but it didn't look too good, so I scrapped it. That's a good idea for the connector piece. I'll give it a go. Again, thanks for the comments.

Yeah, I can not believe they only make right hands. On eBay there were a few pics of left hands . . .turns out the pics were reversed for some reason.

Thanks, HH. :-D (It's 1:18th. 1:1 would be sick though.)

I agree with the idea for the hand. Another idea might be those artistic display hands that have all the articulation for artists to capture hand poses.

With something this heavy the elbow joint would have to have some kind of locking joint to regulate how far the joint moves and to hold it into place once moved. You could do it.

I also like the reflective tape strips you've added. That's a nice detail to show off the construction side of these vehicles.

P-man, if you come across a link to those hands, I'd love to have a look at them.
As for the locking joints, that's similar to what I had on, but they just didn't look right.
