Here are some more pics. I added extensions on the front of the waist- this allows for "play areas" where figures can be posed.
I also managed to get him home, so I can start painting some more details.
Below: before the tech pieces were added . . .

After (I actually think this looks a lot better in person). . .

Here is a size comparison pic . . .

Here's the new waist section in use. . .

The pic with the Cobra trooper really drives home how huge and awesome this thing is.
I really cant wait to see it finished.

Jeff, that's perfect! I'll have to wait till they restock the one hand. Thanks for the link!

Also, I'm going to shorten those waist extensions- I think they're too long. I may cut them in half.

I had a thought for possible hands:

something like:
http://www.keywesthockey.com/glove.jpg

Seems like hockey gloves like that might have a more bulky, robotic look. Downside being the obvious difference in material (thought maybe you could could them in something to help with that), and you'd probably need to find hands to go inside them anyway if you wanted them to be able to hold a pose.

Just a thought. I found some at a sports resale shop a while ago for pretty cheap for costuming purposes. If you think they might work, I wouldn't mind digging them out of storage and donating them to the project.

Those gloves on those hands would look great, imo.

I'm going to have to go to a sports store and check out the kids sized gloves. I think the adult ones would be too large.

Here are some pics of him at home. You can see I shortened the extensions. I'm much happier with this look.

Here's an unexpected surprise- I found my kids playing with Devastator. I thought it was really cool.

that's funny the kids playing with him.The size of him is humungous when you show it compared to a figure as well as the at at walker. How much does it weigh approximately?
If you sold him on ebay it's cost a fortune to ship probobly but I wouldn't sell him for sure,

I couldn't get him completely on the scale, but he was around 50+ pounds.

I added some 1:18th scale ladders to the vehicles, to give both playability and a sense or realism . . .

Added more "tech pieces" to cover over some of the open areas on the trucks. Here's a shot from the back...

I also used textured paint to add "dirt" to various areas . . .
